New 30 FC Office model a bunkhouse mod

Airstream has unveiled a new Flying Cloud floor plan, the 30 FB Office which is basically the Bunkhouse 30 floor plan with the rear bunks replaced with a desk.

According to AS, the rear office can be converted to a single bed, along with the dinette and couch, plus the queen up front for a total sleep capacity of 7, as long as none are too big, and you don't mind making and striking the beds everyday.

I know some owners who work on the road full time have made this mod to the bunkhouse floorplan themselves, only now AS is offering it from the factory. I would imagine they will sell a few dozen of these models before they fade away; more than the 19 PanAmerica toy haulers, at least.

Personally, I think they should offer this with the twin bed option up front as the queen offers no room to move at the foot of the bed, but I'm not in the market for this $107K (MSRP) trailer myself.

This was AS basically looking at everyone in the Covid era working remotely and quickly modifying the bunkhouse to take advantage of an possible opportunity, but not sure they really put a lot of thought into it. For instance, having the office directly in front of the sole bathroom make make for some awkward Zoom calls.

On a positive note: There is a privacy shade that separates the bathroom from the work area as well as provide privacy for the person that may be sleeping there.

I’d love to get my hands on one of those toy hauler models too. I’d convert that bad boy like the one on the accountant.

Yeah, Airstream has a curious history of making certain models that don't sell particularly well, then become popular after they stop making them. I am thinking of the PanAmerica, the original BaseCamp, and the Eddie Bauer edition. Some of these were more popular than others.

The Eddie Bauer came back, sort of, with the rear hatch being the most popular feature, only branded with different partners. The BaseCamp was resurrected. But no plans yet to bring back the PanAmerica.

I look at the popularity of the T@b and other small SOBs and sometimes wonder if a modern update of the vintage WeeWind or Bubble or Pacer would sell.

Of course some new models just never caught on like the Sterling (all silver) or Land Yacht (the first $100k+ model) and were only produced for a year or so.

I would think the Office should gain some traction, but regardless, AS still sells every trailer it makes.

Yeah, those special editions are always very tempting but when the ask is the same or more than a classic, it’s hard to justify getting a special edition... this office one is $50k less than a classic and can definitely see it selling a little more as a result.

Assuming someone negotiated well, this would bring the out the door price on this trailer very reasonable if you’re looking to jump on the road and need a work space without spending +150k for a 33’ classic

My wife and I saw their front kitchen model at an RV show many years ago and thought it was awesome.

They should have corrected the weight distribution issues and brought at back.
