Where to place satellite receiver - 2011

We recently purchased our Airstream, 2011, classic 31D and have been debating where to place our satellite receiver. I have not found a suitable spot on this model. We've considered a small shelf above the tv but I'm unsure as to the best way to secure the shelf to the wall. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Potentially put it in the same cabinet as the DVD player and piggyback/switch on the existing HDMI cable run?

Thanks for the reply...I think I have decided to install a shelf just above the TV. On my model there isn't anyplace to put a receiver. Airstream told me there is 3/4" between the wall and the refrigerator so, I can avoid drilling into the frig. I've a wood worker friend coming over tomorrow to help me out with design, construction and installation.
Again, thanks for the input.

Geat picture! Thanks for posting. We're thinking of getting a satellite receiver as well, so this really helps!

Good job on the shelf!

I'll be installing a satellite receiver in our 2013 30' Flying Cloud and a shelf above the TV seems like a good solution. I thought about putting it in the cabinet with the DVD player and using an hdmi a/b switch but then I'd need to figure out how to connect the satellite dish (I plan to use a Tailgater). Were you able to use the cable tv port that came with your AS to connect the receiver to the satellite dish?

Yes, the cables work just fine. I use a short coaxial from the wall outlet to the receiver input. Then, just a short run from the receiver to the tv. Good luck with yours

I keep mine on top of the 30' D food pantry/convection oven which is directly behind our dinette on the street side. I do keep the receiver in a box that I lay on the floor in the back bedroom when traveling. I place my cell phone charger, satellite receiver (Dish 211Z) and the HD TV which sits on a pedestal on that same top area. It all fits well.

The TV is taken off its pedestal and also stored in its original box back in the bedroom when we travel. Here's a picture. The satellite receiver is sitting flat behind the TV set.

I saw an interesting installation where the receiver was mounted flat on the wall right below the TV.

Technically I could mount there but I'd have to pull the large mirror on the wall off, plus I think the exposed wires might be somewhat ugly. Right now the TV hides the wiring pretty well. I could also mount the receiver on the wall behind the TV but that wall is the refrigerator compartment. At this point the receiver is small enough that it just isn't worth the effort to permanently mount anything. And the plus is if I ever sell the trailer, that entire area stays very clean with no electronics present.
