2013 Classic at Bill Thomas

Does anyone know anything about the 2013 30' Classic at Bill Thomas, Wentzville, MO? It has been on their website and rvtrader for a few weeks now with no pics. I asked about it and was told it is on consignment by a long-time customer of theirs and pics will be posted when it is out of the shop.

They are about an hour away and are not only an Airstream dealer but also a Grand Design dealer, so I would think that we ought to be able to work a deal. I'm concerned about the fact that they advertised it before they had pics, and that it is taking so long. Maybe they are working on it on a time-available basis, or maybe it needs some serious work.

If you know the trailer, but don't want to say anything on the forum, you can email me using my forum name at protonmail.com.

For only an hours drive, I would be there tomorrow to check it out!! I drove 10 hours to look at the 2010 I bought. Take pictures of your rig that you want to trade, look at the Airstream, and talk a deal. You are not out a lot other than some time and a few $$ for fuel and maybe lunch.

They finally posted pictures today. It has an electric awning, which I don’t want.

We're going in on Wednesday for several other purposes, so will stop by and take a look if it is still there. Since PPL has one pretty much like it, minus the electric awning, for $12,000 less I'm guessing that it will still be there.

Just curious why you don’t want the electric awning? We are still in the looking stage

It isn't a deal-breaker, but the manual awning seems to have fewer problems than the electric one, at least by the comments on this forum.

Well, we went and looked today. Some things about the story don't add up, and we're waiting on some answers. The trailer popped up on their website and on rvtrader with no pics. About three weeks later the pics were there. The explanation was that the trailer was in the shop getting ready. The story today is that the owner died suddenly, and everyone in the family already has their airstreams, so this one is on consignment. Okay, then why wasn't it at least completely emptied out? It should have been cleaned, too, but it isn't clean. This is what I expect at PPL, not at an Airstream dealer.

The trailer has the "mouse fur" walls, and there is a slight discoloration on the mouse fur about an inch from the floor that looks like there might have been some moisture there. Both spots are directly below the front side windows (to the front of the door and directly opposite). Since the folding tables are there, it is possible that a drink or two got spilled while the tables were stowed and no one bothered to open things up and see how far the liquid went.

There is a 120VAC outlet in the street-side night stand area, but none in the corresponding space on the curb side. How difficult would it be to add one there?

Adding an outlet on the street curb can be done. To do it correctly, the cabinets would have to come out, the interior panels removed and wiring done to the panel.. Nothing that several thousands of $$$ couldn't change!

If you see the title, there should be names and other information that you could contact the previous owners and confirm why it is being sold. If the dealership will not pass that information to you, that should be a red flag that something is not right about the deal. If the dealership has title, then it is a different story.
The mouse fur transmits dark spots from the aluminum rivets when they move slightly and cause the "grey dust" and I have not found any way to remove the discoloration. The trailer is 11 years old, and the only way to have it in "perfect" condition, would be to find one that had never been used. Some owners are not as careful as others. The 2010 that we bought really proves that, but that is another story!! Sometimes the only way to have everything perfect and the way you want it, is to buy new.

I suspect that the story about if coming from a long-time Airstream family is true. The ghost numbers on the front are 214.

Got a phone call from Bill Thomas. They are not interested in our trade-in, a 2022 Grand Design Reflection 315 RLTS travel trailer, even though they are Grand Design dealers. We'll continue our search.
