Fan-Tastic fan rain closure problem

We have a 2015 25' Flying Cloud RB. We love it. Fantastic fan closes with rain gauge but it does not close completely (last tiny bit). I have to click it closed with switch and then click it again to re-open. Even cleaned and waxed the edges of both. Still the same.

Our old 2003 23' International's Fans would close and then re-open. Great.

2015 Fans do not re-open. Should they?

Thanks for any input from Too Darn Hot Moab, Utah

I put a new one in my trailer in 2016. It closes up tight.

Hi

Ours is a bit hit or miss on closing tightly. I have never noticed it re-opening once it closes.

I believe ff suggests yearly silicone on the rubber gasket.
Perhaps the lift arm has become bent, and it's travel is now off?

The older FF's (pre-2014)used to re-open after moisture dried. Now they don't.

FF does not reopen automatically . It only Closes when it senses water.

Camping world sells some very nice white FF covers. Then who cares if it's slightly open. $49 a piece. Installs with the same 4 bolt holes AND, you can keep your fans running when it's raining!

Data point: 2007 front fantastic fan drives me nuts opening and closing automagically in high humidity in Alabama. Ended up turning it off. I have a cover over the aft one. Less silliness with it. But still does it occasionally even after I clean the sensors.

We have a 2011 FC 28. The front fan catches once in a while. I observed a few cycles, then used some pliers to squeeze the edge of the seal just a bit so the cover cleared.

Our fans do close and re-open, but you need to have set the direction switch so the default is open - I think. I've never really figured out the logic of the FF system!

Depends on the age of the FF. Mine will close and reopen on its own. Apparently newer ones will not.

Yes, Fantastic Fans are a bit of a magic trip, unfortunately I'm not a good magician, but I do like the show.

Our 2014 does as soon as the rain stops. Or at least it did until I put vent covers on. Now it doesn't matter.

If you rely on auto close for your FF, don't forget to place the fan speed switch to an "on" position. If left in off it cuts the power to the auto closing circuit.

Thanks to all who took the time to help me get this sorted out. Loved our old 2003 FF that closed and re-opened and also had a switch of bring air in. Oh well. Grateful in any case.

When I was having a problem with mine and wanted to be able to change air direction, I called FF people and they helped me out with 2 new switches and schematics for the replacement. Now I can have one push and the other pull air. It was an easy fix. Give them a call.

I second getting a cover, which will allow you to keep the vent open while towing and keep the AS aired out. Not to expensive and easy to install.

After checking their website, seems that some models with the rain sensor only shuts the lid. There are other models that shuts and reopens. Can anyone confirm that AS is not using the close/reopen models on newer builds (2017 AS)?
