30 amperes outlet not working

Hello Airstreamers,

I need your help. 2 days ago, my travel trailer was connected at an electric 30 amp pedestal with my 30 amp rear exterior outlet. It works well but suddenly my surge protector cut off the power. After my investigations, all my appliances, my interior outlets and 30 amp exterior front outlet worked well except my rear 30 amp outlet. Since 2 days, I change for a new campground, all works well except my 30 amp exterior outlet.

So, how to fix my 30 amp exterior outlet? Do to change the 30 amp fuse situated on the A frame?

Thank you in advance to help me.

Payan, sorry to hear about your electrical trouble. What year and model Airstream do you have? I didn’t see it listed on your profile.

Knowing what unit you have will help the forum members to offer ideas.

Thanks!

By "rear 30 amp outlet" do you mean the service inlet where the shore power cord attaches?

It SEEMS like you're saying the front 30A inlet is working and can supply power to the trailer but the rear inlet is not.

IF my interpretation is correct, the 2 most likely things are a loose connection in the wiring of the rear 30A inlet, and some issue with the automatic transfer switch that switches between the front and rear shore-power inlets. I wouldn't be surprised at an EMS cutting off the connection if something bad was happening with the inlet wiring.

Transfer switch issues, the fix was to put power into the other power in port, to reset it.
Otherwise they burnout and fail, mine failed eventually.
I added solar and dropped the front power port (disconnected) and transfer switch gone.

A few years ago Airstream used some poor grade transfer switches. You may have gotten one. I would pull it out anskmgd inspect the contacts snd relays with a ohm meter. Replace it with well known name brand.

You might also find that the reason your EMS cut off power was a loose connection in the transfer switch. Wouldn't hurt to unplug from shore power and then confirm all the connections to the transfer switch are tight, clean, and show no signs of damage from overheating.
