23' Front Bed Queen or Rear Bed Queen?

I'm looking to upgrade my 2001 19' Bambi to something a little bigger and a little newer. On the Airstream website I really like the layout of the new 23' Front Bed Queen. How long has this layout been an option? Do they make a Rear Bed Queen 23'? I'm not a fan of the CB layout in my 19' Bambi. Hoping to upgrade to something along the lines of a 2011 or newer 23' FBQ or RBQ. For those that have this layout, what are their thoughts, Pros and Cons? Thanks.

We had a 2018 Flying Cloud 23FB - itís narrow body (8í wide) and a nice upgrade from your 19í. We liked the full rear bath but found the u-shaped dinette on the cramped side. The galley area is pretty compact too but usable.

The sideways queen was okay but the person who gets the front side has to do the shuffle to get out at night for bathroom breaks. In our case that was me. Watch your head as the upper cabinets right above the bed.

We traded at the end of the first season for a 27í Globetrotter. Live and learn!

Airstream now makes a twin bed 23í Globetrotter that offers a lot more space inside. The twins are wider than half a queen and longer plus you gain all the space between the beds for changing.

Spend some time inside one and see how it feels to you. Donít get me wrong, it really is a nice trailer, just didnít work for us. Good luck with your decision!

We have a 23 FB queen and we love it. Itís tight, but very workable.

When I started shopping hard for an Airstream a year ago, a couple of our near-misses were a 2008 and a 2010 23FB, so they've made that floorplan for awhile now. Not sure how much earlier than that they made them.

No, they don't have a 23 rear queen.

I concur, I'm not a fan of CB models.

We ended up in a 20FC, and it's been great for us. I've come to like it more than the 23FB.

I wish our 20FC has dual axles and larger tanks; a little wider bed would be okay, too; soo I don't want to tell you it's 'perfect'.

But one thing that started to nag on me about the 23FB was the dinette/galley arrangement. The dinette, being a shallow U-shape, means that you have two seats that you can get into, then someone has to squeeze in to get into the spot w/ their back to the window, and four at the dinette would be difficult. And if you're sitting at the dinette, someone 'in' the kitchen has their back to you the whole time. By going w/ the 20', the kitchen has a lot more counter, and the dinette is across from the door: the dinette can much more easily seat four real people.

Just some thoughts....

Thanks for the feedback. I really like the bed and bath layout of the FBQ, but I see what you are saying about the dinette. I also like the 25' layouts, but 23' is the max for my current driveway.

I agree that the dinette in the 23FB is tight for four people, although the table top slides and swivels for easier access and/or comfort. Itís ideal for two people. Our biggest issue was the lack of lounging space inside the 23FB. I had a custom filler cushion made to convert the dinette to a big lounge. We really like it for those times when the weather keeps you inside.

Suggest you go see every possible model [20' to 25'] in person, by making an appointment at a dealer, with any other family members whose input would be helpful IMO.

You will likely avoid lots of "analysis paralysis" by checking out the full-scale models ASAP.

If the 25' is too long for your driveway, you might have to move, if this length is your first choice!

Don't laugh . . . it happens all the time . . .

Good comments from Leslie about our FC20 models IMO.

Good luck.
