If your interested, the Orion launch was scrubbed today however the lift off from Cape Canaveral will be tomorrow at approximately 4 AM. I'm sure you'll be able to see it even if you don't drive to Cocoa Beach to view it. It is early but a historic first flight for NASA to return the U.S. Back to space.

Thanks for the tip. We were ready to look for it this morning when it was scrubbed. We may get up early and try to see it. We're about 50 miles from the Space Center here at Fort Wilderness. There is a lot of tree cover here, but we may give it a try.

I'm retired now but worked in Aerospace for nearly 35 years. I spent a lot of time working at the Cape and living in Cocoa Beach. I loved every minute of it and still keep up with what is happening in the industry. When I was there I never missed Shuttle launch, day or night. Have fun

We lived in Jacksonville for many years. During clear weather conditions, we could see launches from there. It is an awe-inspiring sight.

Lived in West Palm Beach area--could see launches at the Cape from our house when they got up high enough. Saw several of the early Mercury launches from our back yard...
Oops, just dated myself more than a little bit...

We did make it up and out at 6:30 this morning. Orion did launch right at 7 AM. Unfortunately, there was a heavy cloud cover here in the Orlando area, and we didn't get to see the new space craft heading out.
We did get to see the DisneyWorld Fireworks last night.

Well, Lucy has completed her last day at Fort Wilderness. It rained off and on all day. We checked out several of the resorts, and came back to Lucy early to start breaking camp. Tomorrow we are going to take Lucy over to Tampa For a couple of Days.

Did you get over to the Pop Century resort? We stayed there late last year and really enjoyed it.

No, we didn't make it to that one, but I looked at it on-line and it looks interesting. We visited about a half dozen of the Disney World resort hotels, but there are 29 of them.

Lucy broke camp at Fort Wilderness this morning. It was a nice stay at a pristine campground. We have headed over to Zephyrhills and have laid in at a small campground here.

I'd hate to think what would happen if you flush while sitting down.
As to Dish local broadcasts—I'd like to get Denver TV even though we now live near Grand Junction. GJ newscasts are awful, the worst I've ever seen. But local TV has the right by federal law to block all broadcasts from other cities on cable or satellite. If the local stations here didn't do that, they'd probably lose most of their viewers.

Lucy is still laid-in at the small campground in Zephyrhills. It rained all day yesterday. No leaks detected. The rain has ended, and it has gotten quite a bit cooler. It is 55 degrees in the Tampa area this morning. Both the heat pump and gas furnace are working well.
We went to Ikea in Downtown Tampa yesterday. As usual, we spent most of the day looking at all the really unique Ikea stuff. Ikea is like the Magic Kingdom of household goods. We got our cheaper than usual, spending a mere $120.00 on some really cool stuff. We even got Lucy some stainless steel folding hooks. We think that these will be perfect for the outside of Lucy's wardrobe door. We like to hang our towels there while in the shower. We have always used plastic suction hooks for this purpose, but they regularly fall off. These stainless ones fold flat to the wall when not in use. We think that they will look good as their finish in the same as Lucy's interior hardware.

Good tip Brian. Maybe we'll check out an Ikea some day when we are in Denver. We've never been to one. I think it opened after we left the Front Range.
I though about putting hooks on the door, but was afraid we'd run into them as we walked by. Folding ones would solve that. There never are enough hooks in our Airstream, but we have used a lot of Command hooks on the walls. The advantage is that you can remove them if you have to.

Hi Gene. Here is a photo of the folding hooks from IKEA, show it opened and closed. I will post another photo when I get them installed on Lucy's wardrobe door.
I would encourage you to look around an IKEA Store when you get an opportunity. It's quite an experience. Plan on it taking at least half a day. Each time that we go to IKEA, we end up spending at least six hours there.
IKEA has literally hundreds of household items with possible Airstream applications.

I got Lucy's new hooks installed today. I think that these will work much better than what I was using before.

We are still camped in Zephyrhills this morning. We awoke this morning to a heat pump struggling in the 34 degree temperature. New Lucy's heat pump performs to a lower temperature that her predecessors. Old Lucy's heat pump was out of service at about 42 degrees. New Lucy's heat pump with the defrost cycle works well into the 30's. This morning, I switched her over to the gas furnace. It also worked flawlessly.
With these cold temperatures, we are experiencing some condensation on the inside of the windows. It is a little troublesome, but not unmanageable. I think that this is something that we just have to deal with if we want to use Lucy in the winter time.

On the road finally! We escaped Laramie on dry roads through the mountains to spend last night in Gypsum Colorado. I only mention this because we woke up to 14 Degrees. The furnace worked perfectly. No water freeze up problems. If people are concerned about their Airstreams for winter use, they need not be. Of course I wouldn't want a steady diet of it. We're headed south.

Musing on New Lucy, I realized something that I had not considered. Old Lucy was one of the first FB's ever produced. Her door was hinged to the rear of the trailer. The first time that we took her to Jackson Center, we were told that she was one of the first ten units produced. After that they switched to a
front-hinged door, and FB's have been that way ever since.
Having had Old Lucy's rear-hinged door, we now realize that they had it right to begin with. One of the main things that we wish New Lucy had was a
rear-hinged door. It just works so much better.

I wonder what drove the change. It looks like the awning arms might get in the way of fully opening the door.
In the rear twin, the furnace exhaust gets covered by the door if you leave it wide open, which you're not likely to do if you need the heat on. But it's enough of an issue that the dealer warned us about it when we picked it up.
