Hi Gene. We hope that at some point we can meet up again and that you can get to see New Lucy before she gets too old. We're not sure how long we will stay out West this year. Of course, you are always welcome to come Santa Rosa Beach.

As far as the Lucy experience goes, Old Lucy needed at lot of work, and we didn't want to spend the time getting her fixed up. We had been talking about downsizing to a 23, and came across a hardly used one, so we jumped at jumped at it. Little Lucy, the 23FB, was not the panacea that we had hoped. We gave her a good try. We spent 150 nights in her and towed her 15,000 miles. We decided that we really missed Old Lucy, and according, decided that we really wanted a 25FB, so we got New Lucy. She now has over 200 nights and 20,000 miles under her belt. The ducted Air conditioning is great. We are still experiencing some falling of the registers. We also really like the metal interior. Old Lucy was still in the days of the mouse fur. We also like the twin bed arrangement.

We are just anxious to get her on the road. As you know this remodeling houses crap gets really old and cuts into our Airstreaming.

Brian

Thanks for the update. Can't believe you are already up to 20,000 miles on New Lucy. We just hit 60,000 with ours. I'm really wanting to finish remodeling before I'm too old to finish and still get some miles on our toys. I envy the ducted air, but not enough to start over when I know ours so well.

I just checked Lucy's Log Book. New Lucy has been towed 20,416 miles, and we have spent 219 nights in her. Lucy has not been on the road since the first of February due to this house renovation. She is getting very anxious and we hope to get going soon.

Wrong. I saw that 2016 miles (almost 5,000) got counted twice. Actual miles are 55,101.

Hi Fred. The St. Joseph Peninsular State Park is nice. It's out on the end of the Cape.

Indian Pass Campground is also nice, and conveniently located.

There is also Sunset Isle RV and Yacht Club over in Carabelle. We have not stayed there yet, but plan to try it. It looks very nice on line. It is also a Passport America with a great rate during the week.

There is a lot to see in the Apalachicola area. The only real supermarket on the area is the Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe. The next closest are in Panama City or Tallahassee.

Have a great trip and let us know what you find interesting. You might want to check out the Dr. John Gorrie House and Museum in Apalachicola. In 1851, Dr. Gorrie, a physician, invented a machine that produced ice and is considered the Father of artificial refrigeration. It is hard to believe that such an important invention was conceived and built in a little town in the middle of nowhere.

You may also wish to try St. George Island State Park near Apalachicola. It is very quiet, clean, and fairly close to East Point where one may purchase fresh oysters from a local provider of Apalachicola Bay Oysters. We liked the proximity to historic Apalachicola. Check out the Richard Bickel gallery where he has copies of his photos and books for sale. Jim

Brian and Jim have given great recommendations. We have a reservation at the state park on Cape San Blas for a week in August. Both that park and the one at St. George Island are extremely popular. They are all about the beaches. Appalachicola is not to be missed. As Jim said the oysters are the best.

If needed, custom twin mattresses can be made much longer (perhaps 8" on the 25FB as the Classic twins can be over 10" longer). Also 10" thick will work with the night stand.

We went with the Rocky Mountain 8" twins on the 2014 Classic as I lacked the height measurement at the time. This year we may order 10" thick and about 8" longer. We went with the 10" Rocky Mountain in the 23D and that is really great!

Michelin PSI

Hi Brian,

What PSI do you run in your tires? I understand that there are 2 schools of thought:

1) per the Michelin tables based on actual weight

2) max sidewall pressure (80psi) to reduce inter-ply shear but a much rougher ride

We have the exact same rig a you and have followed your experiences closely. Thanks in advance for your input.

We run about 72# in our 16" Michelin's on our 2017 Classic and did same on two prior 30' AS.

We initially ran 80 psi in the 16" Michelins on our 2016 Classic per Airstreams recomendation and immediately started popping interior rivets. We dropped to 65 psi when we got a trailer tire pressure monitor system and have popped almost no interior rivets since, despite more miles since. The TPMS has not indicated the trailer tires are getting hot due to excessive sidewall flex, so we think we are OK at this pressure.
