New Lucy now has her appointment at the Service Center in Jackson Center on April 28th. In addition to having a punch list of warranty item handled, she will be getting a custom rear awning. We ordered Lucy's awning today in a custom striped pattern.

I decided to try something a little different first. This afternoon I drilled 7/32" holes at the bottom center of the window frames from the inside. I then used a wooden dowel to push the window breaking the seal. Once the seal is broken, the window opens easily with the side handles.

This seems to do the job without cost or hassle.

I like it. The only question is....given everything in an rv must serve at lease 2 purposes, what else will the dowel do? My bottle opener is obvious.

I haven't come up with anything yet, but I'm sure that some of the members here will come up with some very imaginative ideas.

You could hollow them out and make them into straws.

Look up a forum member by the name of Glogeo. She has done this to her Classic slide out successfully by using materials she found at Lowes or HD.

And the slide with the plastic covered tip that pushes the window out, has a support between the outside of the screen and window.

It's engineered better than the window popper version IMO.

She'd probably share photos of her work.

I have now done all of Lucy's side windows with the small hole to use the wooden dowel. I have not yet done the front and back windows as they do not seem to get stuck to the rubber like the side windows. I don't know why that would be, but they open easily with the inside handles even though they haven't been opened in months.

This am woke up pad wet from dripping
Water is running forward down in front of awning seems to be associated with heat pump running
Quite a bit of condensation on windows shades down last night
Had stove fan vent unlocked last night
Boiled corn on cob last night
Have had Feather plugged in and hp running since we got her never had this drip before?

I talked to dealer that think it was from the ducted heat cooling skin on roof causing condensation ?
Feather was cold when turned on HP at70degrees but again first time will see what happens tonight currently no moisture

Good Morning, Fred. In Cedar Key, it was very likely cool last night with high humidity. This would cause some of the kind of condensation that you describe. New Lucy's windows often fog in these condition. When her heat pump first starts up, it feels like it is blowing very damp air.

When we get in this situation, we run a round of gas furnace heat to bring down the inside humidity. This usually does the trick, and we can later switch back to the heat pump.

You mentioned boiling corn on the cob last night. Unless you had the stove hood vent fan on during this process, this would have greatly increased your interior humidity. Also, if you showered last night without running the shower exhaust vent, this would have significantly contributed to your condensation problem.

Along this line, we never shower in Lucy without the little exhaust fan running. We do this regardless of the season.

Sad but funny story about the shower and bathroom vents. I didn't realize that you had to push up on the cover in order for the vent to actually work. I was just turning on the fan. Duh.

We used those little fans so much in Old Lucy that we eventually broke the plastic handles. We were able to replace the handles with a strip of metal to keep them goig.

Another purpose for the dowel—if you have missing teeth, it makes the perfect tooth pick. And if your spouse is snoring, stick it in your nearest ear (or the spouse's mouth—it won't plug the mouth, but the gagging will stop the snoring). For a runny nose, dowel fits just right.

I think your patented window opener would also make an excellent "tool" to clear out the laundry room at a campground. A few well placed whacks and a little yelling would guarantee you the washer and dryer of your choice. Saves time. No polite waiting. Can't beat that! SueEllen would love it!

What if you made a line of camping "silverware" using those wooden dowels as the handles attached to fork heads, spoon heads, etc. pop open the windows with your "silverware" then set the picnic table for lunch!

A little silicon spray goes a long way. Even the large rear window over the dinette opens easily with one lever.

I have used pure silicon spray on New Lucy's windows. Curiously, Lucy's large windows at the front and back of the trailer have remained unstuck and operate well with the inside handles. On the other hand, all of Lucy's side windows continue to stick to the rubber molding after repeated treatments with the silicon. This is what has driven me to drill the small hole in the inside window frame to allow opening assistance with the wooden dowel. I was frustrated by having to go outside and pry the window open with a small screw driver blade.
