We brought New Lucy back home to Santa Rosa Beach today in the pouring rain. She did well in the 320 mile run home. She did not have any leaks or problems.

It was 64 degrees when we left Jacksonville at 9:00 AM yesterday, and when we arrived home it was 40 degrees here. The forecast is for lows of 29 tonight and 31 tomorrow night.

It is supposed to hit 27 degrees tonight right on the coast. Lucy is running with her heat pump on at 62. We'll see if it makes through the night.

5 degrees here this morning. We are winterized, but ran the oil-filled electric heater and a Vornado last night. 60 degrees inside this morning when I checked.

We have been fortunate here. In nearly ten years, we have never had to winterize Lucy or any of her predecessors. We get some below freezing weather here in the Florida Panhandle, but it is most often close enough to 32 degrees for Lucy to get by.

It only made it down to 33 degrees last night here on the coast. It didn't make it to the predicted 27. We had left Lucy's heat pump on last night set at 62. When I went out there this morning, it was a nice 62 degrees inside Lucy.

We have noticed that the late model heat pumps do better that the older ones with the new heat pump defrost cycle. In Old Lucy, the 2005 heat pump tended to give up the ghost at around 43 degrees. At that point we would need to switch over to the gas furnace. The heat pumps in Little Lucy and New Lucy seem to operate effectively all the way down to freezing.

New Lucy is now equipped with her very own trailer sized slow cooker. We are not much in the cooking area. We are confirmed microwavers. The one exception is the making of what we call boiled streak. Boiled steak is made by throwing a hunk of low priced cow in a slow cooker for about eight hours, and, voila!, we have a great boiled steak.

We have a couple of larger (4 and 5 quart) slow cookers. These are a little too much for our trailer cooking needs and for Lucy's counter top.

We shopped around on-line and found a 1.5 quart slow cooker for Lucy. This seems to be just the right size for both using and storing in an Airstream.

We have been trying it out for the last couple days. We have already done a one pound boiled steak, and it came out great! Today were are trying boiled pig, and cooking a hunk of pork.

Glad to hear Lucy did well so did Silent Feather we put furnace on at 64 for trial went as expected. We have used HP in low temps with no problem also.
By the way just received three of the Bjarnum towel hooks like Lucys'
I have a question about your reflective tape on Lucy. Are you using that for better following and traffic approaching from the side to enhance visual impact avoidance. Do you think side lights not adequate? I guess I just answered my own question.

By the way, we just put a Fissler skillet Pressure cooker on Feather cuts cooking time by more than 50% and can be used as cooker, fryer, veggies etc.
Footprint a little larger than your slow cooker. What brand is the slow cooker?

You will like the Ikea folding hooks. They look great and are very handy.

We like the reflective tape. It's just a secondary safety system. I would like Lucy to be seen at night if the running lights are out.

The little 1.5 quart slow cooker is an Elite Gourmet. We got it on Amazon Prime for $16.98.

Most late model Airstreams have a plastic tube that runs side-to-side under the belly pan. This tube is designed to store a slinky sewer hose. I keep a slinky there as a backup, but I most always use a Sewer Solution to dump Lucy's tanks. I store this hose in street side outer compartment.

Once again thank you for the information. I think the information, friendliness and helpfulness we saw in the AS forums was one of the reasons my wife and I decided this morning to finalize the deal on a 2015 25 ft Flying Cloud FB. We know we have a lot to learn but we are very excited.

Congratulations on your decision! You're going to love Airstreaming.

I realize that this is a very long thread, but it would probably be worth your while to read all of it as it deals specifically with the 2015 Flying Cloud 25FB. It might give you some insights and cautions as you take delivery and start to use your Airstream.

There is a learning curve to the RVing thing, but it's not launching rockets. Take your time and all this stuff will become clear. The rewards of Airstream travel are many and significant.

May you have many great Airstream adventures.

Why do you need all those outlets in the bedroom? Do you shave in bed? Have heated blankets? Spotlights? Even the items in "Fifty Shades of Grey" didn't need electricity.

Hi Gene. It's really simple on the outlets:

1. SuEllyn's heated mattress pad.
2. Brian's heated mattress pad.
3. SuEllyn's white noise machine.
4. The lamp on the night stand between the beds.
5. The LED mood lights installed in Lucy's front window.
6. The power converter to get me a 12 volt outlet for my little oscillating fan.

This uses up an entire strip outlet. We charge our phones with the USB outlets.

You are quite welcome to take our winter out there. I think that it's over,though. It's 65 degrees and sunny today at the beach.
