Even though there are some new features on Lucy that I think should have been left alone, there is one new feature that I really like. The new locking catches on the outside storage compartment doors are a vast improvement. I am finding that they operate better that the old ones. I have found that I can leave them unlocked while underway. They do not vibrate loose. this simplifies the camp making process.

Not to hijack the thread, but I used my 2014 Tundra to haul my 25', now it is pulling my 30' 2015 International. There are quite a few others using a Toyota Tundra to haul the longer models. But there could be an entire forum just on tow vehicles, gas vs. diesel, 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, etc........

When our 2014 Classic arrived (Jan 2013) with the "new" latches, they were all keyed to the "751" key of nearly all camper water compartment doors. Thus no security in the storage compartments.

I found out that a locksmith can rekey these locks, so I did have that done. Now the truck's camper shell key does the trailer storage compartments as well. One less key to mess with.

BTW. The stainless steel water door cover option on the Classic has a unique key that is not the "751" blank.

The fact that the the new compartments use that standard 751 key is not a issue for us as we rarely. if ever, lock the compartments. We used to have to lock the old type latches as they had a tendency to vibrate loose while underway.

[QUOTE=murreywalker;1567960]Brian, the newer Suburbans have the Trailering aAssist Feature built in to the shift lever, on the end in the form of a push button. Push it once and the feature is activated, push it twice and the downhill braking system is DEactivated. Pretty straight forward./QUOTE]

I use the Tow/Haul mode(push button on the end of shifter) on our F250 all the time when towing, not just on a grade. Are there any issues with doing that? Reduced MPG?

Our '07 Tundra has automatic downshifting on downgrades, but it does so little that I asked the dealer to check if it worked. He said it did. There's no button to activate or disable it. But I don't mind downshifting manually. The Tundra has a 6 speed automatic (no manual available) and 5th and 6th are both overdrive. You can down (or up) shift manually, so I guess that deactivates the automatic downshifting. Down steep grades, I most often use 3rd and on winding steep roads, 2nd. Nice automatic feature, but pretty much useless.

I really haven't noticed in the change in gas mileage (which is pretty bad for our 2013), and I engage it all the time, too.

Haven't run into any issues of concern.

Picked her up today

What a wonderful experience we had today. Learning, Receiving ,driving and parking our new first Airstream at home.
We at first were going to name her Feather but change name to Silent Feather,
Today she was married to the beast.
The feather comes from my making bamboo fly rods and flys!!!
We feel blessed to be part of this experience. One day old!!!

That's a great looking rig. Fred. Congratulations! In the picture, it looks like the background at JD Sanders in Alachua. They are good people. We bought Old Lucy there in 2005.

Be sure to post your impressions and any issues here on the Forums.

May you have many great Airstream adventures.

Brian, You're correct J.D. Sanders. One of the most enjoyable purchasing experiences ever. Kelvin the Beast is a Duramax GMC 2500HD Danali. Pulls the AS like isn't there.

Saw you there. How's the pro pride hitch working? Great looking combo, you sure were happy! Any problems be sure to get with Sanders, they will help. How's your dog like the new trailer? Jim

Jim,
Thanks, can't wipe the smile off my face. Spent the night on her last night, temp in the 40's heat pump early on then switch to furnace very comfortable.
ProPride is a wonderful addition, pulled great no big truck movement, backs sweet. This is our first RV and this setup reminds me of fine wine on sip and you sit and reflect on it origin and how special it is. This is one heck of a silver bottle full wonderful feelings and thoughts, wish we did this years ago.

Lucy is back at home in Santa Rosa Beach. We towed her back yesterday under mostly clear skies. We got her tucked in her spot at the house last night.

Today, I defrosted Lucy's refrigerator for the first time. It has been on continuously since we got her on October 2nd. There was some frost, but not more than a quarter inch on the back wall. I have turned it back on again. Hopefully, it will be back at operating temperature in the morning.

Fred, I have the 25FB and have been eyeing the GMC 2500HD. You has a post that said you got 14.5 MPG while towing? I get 9 (nine) towing with my Chevy Avalanche. What do you get without the AS? PS- I haven't named my AS... is that bad luck?
