Not dumb at all. It's dynamic balancing do the entire hub assembly. If you google "how centramatics works" you'll find a video on their site - it's more for 18-wheelers but the concept is the same.

They balance your wheels and tires while they are rolling.

I have completed the installation of the Voyage wireless camera in Lucy. I have mounted it to the under side of the overhead cabinet above the dinette table.
I will test it on the next run to Jacksonville in a couple of weeks.

We now have our workbench built and installed over Lucy's stove burners. This is one of the final alterations that we are doing to make Lucy our own. Now we will have a work surface to pack Moose Tags.
Here is a picture of the work bench.

I like it! And I like the flamingo in the window. What a great place to pack moosetags.

The workbench top lifts right off if we would want to use the burners. We have rarely used the stove tops in our Airstreams. We are not much in the cooking department. We usually make meals that can be prepared in the microwave.

Can you please show a close up of the work surface? I have been considering how I would want to create a dual surface over the stovetop and maybe partial sink with a wooden butcher block that would be able to also go outside for food prep, and fit on the dinette table for rainy days. Need to figure out where it will live when actually using the burners.

Lucy's workbench stove top cover is made from a 22" by 24" piece of 3/4" of marine grade plywood. It is set up on three pieces of 1 by 3 stood on side. The work surface is covered with a piece of Alvin self-healing cutting mat. This material is extremely.
I will take some additional pictures and post them in the morning.

Brian where is the antenna on your Voyager install? Outside or inside? Any issue with reception if it is inside?

The antenna ia in one of the upper cabinets. I'll take a picture of it and post it tomorrow.

Brian - have you tried using the camera while driving in the dark? Is there a reflection issue because it is installed inside?
Thanks
Doug

Brian,
Yes please tell us the pro's and con's of your camera install. I would consider a Voyager wireless if the install under the rear cabinet works. There is already a 12 v outlet in that cabinet!

Hi Larry. We decided to try installing the Voyager Camera under the cabinet to make our lives easier. On our 23FB, the Voyager was mounted on on the outside below the rear window, It was on a mount that permitted quick removal of the camera. This worked well, but SuEllyn was always concerned about the risk of theft. We ended up removing the camera at each stop. It had gotten to the point that the camera was more of a pain than a benefit.
When we got new Lucy, we decided that we would do something different with the Voyager. We thought about mounting it above the rear window. As we plan to mount a rear awning and apply our WBCCI Numbers, this was not a viable option for us.
After a lot of looking at the situation, we decided to try the under cabinet location. The mounting was relatively easy. The camera bracket attached with two small screws. I then drilled a 5/8" hole just to the rear of the OEM LED light. I fed the camera wire into the upper cabinet. For 12 volt power, I wired the camera into a DC cigarette lighter plug. As Airstream has seen fit to do away with all of the 12 volt outlets in the new trailers, I installed a small converter. I plugged the converter into the inverter outlet in the cabinet.
I replaced the small black antenna on the camera with a wired high-gain
omni-directional antenna. This antenna is in the upper cabinet, and it's wire is fed through the 5/8" hole and connected to the camera.
I have performed static tests on the camera. It appears to operate well, but it does see the window screen. Images beyond the screen are discernible, but I'm not sure that this will be satisfactory. I first want to test the system on the road before I make any other adjustments. We will be taking Lucy back to Jacksonville soon, and will test the camera then.
Brian

Brian,
Thanks for your incredibly detailed posts and willingness to share your wisdom.
My wife and I took delivery of an identical trailer to yours on Halloween. My TV's name is Wynonna, so we only thought it appropriate to name the AS Raylan (FX series "Justified").
Question: in preparation for winterizing, should we remove the water filter under the kitchen sink or leave it and let antifreeze run through it? I can't find help in the manuals.
Thanks, Mica

Hi Mica,
I have never winterized any of our Airstreams. I am, therefore, not very knowledgeable in this area.
I do recall reading that the in-line water filter should be removed for winterization. New Lucy came with a piece of Pex to replace the filter. New Lucy was delivered with the Pex line in place under the sink. I had to remove the Pex line and install the filter. It's an easy job. No tools are needed. Just check the connections after the water is turned back on.
I would think that having antifreeze sitting in the water filter would not be a good thing.
Congratulations on your new Airstream! May you have many great Airstream adventures with your new baby.
Brian

I had a SOB that had whole house and drinking filters. I did not remove them when winterizing and they removed the PINK color so I did not know when the anti-freeze went through the lines. I realized this when I felt the "water" and it had an oily feel. When I removed the filters, they were pink inside.

Brian,
Thanks. I was thinking that I should remove it. Mine was delivered just the opposite...the filter was already installed. I'm hoping that it will be okay to store that filter for use in the spring in the refrigerator when we winterize.
Best, Mica

That should be fine. I would put the filter in a zip-lock bag while stored.
