Thumbs up Your International 30 Loaded Weight?

Hi there!

I just ordered a new 2014 International Signature 30 this week and I am now shopping for a towing vehicle.

Dry weight is 6380.

What is your typical loaded weight?

We are a family of 1 adults + two small kids.

Thanks!

Hi Jim,

Thanks.

What is your TV? (model, engine, axle ratio?)

Most, even 3/4 tons TVs are rated for a maximum of 1000 pound tongue weight.

My husband weighed ours, but I don't have the numbers here. We tow with an F250 crew cab diesel. It is a towing machine.

The TV is a 2008 Jeep GC with a 3 L diesel. Axel is 3.73. Jeeps are rated at about 720 lbs tongue wt. Mine has been reinforced and set up by Can Am. On a recent trip, I got 14 .7 mpg. The jeep has 290,000 k on it. It works fine for me. Jim

The International 30 is a beautiful Airstream that delivers everything promised. I added 16" wheels, a TPMS, dealer supplied 300 Watt Solar system complete with 4 AGM batteries, awnings all around, and best of all, a gizmo that sucks out any nasty odours that may emanate from the holding tanks. The Airstream provides complete independence from shore based utilities except for when it is time to dump or add water. We did add a 30" x 30" ( I think those are the correct dimensions) mirror in the bathroom. I understand (and everybody else will) your excitement on getting the new Airstream. And don't be afraid to camp? In your driveway like many of us have done. But the best is, just use it, lots.

Thanks. I am actually going to be using it a lot. I am getting rid of the house and hitting the road.

I have ordered the 150 watt solar - maybe 300 would have been better?

What was the name of the odour removing gizmo?

Dridma - my Chevy 3/4 ton Duramax hitch label says 1500# tongue weight max.

Camco Cyclone sewer vent. It can be installed without degrading the stack except by the addition of 3 small screws. 150 is a good start but, you know, you may keep adding new needs. (2 tvs, 2 computers, hair dryer, etc. Forgot to mention the 1500 watt inverter that is part of my system. You very quickly just take it all for granted. I went dealer instal on the solar because you get much more than factory. He also wired it so that all outlets provide 110 when the inverter is running. Others have installed their own great systems but have a lot more knowledge of the stuff than I do. AM Solar has great products and Lewster is an exceptional company rep. He can be found on the forum. Jim

We adore it. When it is home and we aren't camping, we will sit in it.

is a 96 Suburban 3/4 ton 7.4L enough for a 30ft International? Considering upsizing at some point.
Thanks

I'm planning to. I've been researching and it seems to be fine. One of the reasons I am leaning towards an International vs. the Classics. 1000 lbs less.
