Question Two TVs remote headache

My 2012 International came with two Samsung TVs, that's a good thing but when I turn on the TV in the dinette area the one in the bedroom always also comes on.

Anyone know if it's possible to make each remote unique to a specific set?

Are they infrared or radio remotes? If they are ir, i would think you can just block the "line of sight" to the other tv.

I was dumbfounded by this as well. Until I figured out the infrared signal was bouncing off the shiny aluminum wall opposite the TV in the bedroom, and turning it on. In fact you can turn that bedroom TV off by just aiming it under the living room TV.

So if you just aim better, or pull the bedroom privacy screen, it will work the correct TV.

I don't need a remote. Many times I go to the Clipper and the LG HDTV is on. What turns it on I don't know. It has, a number of times, come on in the middle of the night when we are sound asleep. We have checked all the time control settings, changed the batteries in the remote, and now just unplug it if we are going away for any time.
We are open to any ideas to solve this small annoyance.

You can change one of the tv's by using the BN59-01041A remote that came with the "main" television. You can change that one to TV#2 by going into the "tools" menu on the remote, with the TV turned on.
Of course, that's the TV I just played with the settings on, YMMV.

Probably either one of your neighbors has a remote that the LG will pick up, and it turns it on, or one of the remotes you have in your house is turning it on. To check if it's you, simply carry all your remotes out to your motor home, and try each one. If none of yours turn it on, it's probably a neighbor. It could also be the mice leaving the TV on after they play poker.

Thanks Terry,

My main remote does not have that model number and the tools menu does not have that function. I'm going with the "aim better" to solve this issue.

Piece of black electrical tape over the ir sensor on the TV you don't want to come on while in bed.

How about a TV remote that turns on the MaxxFan full blast. And its not a remote model fan. Sal.

Now that is funny. I had a remote for the garage door a long time ago that opened a neighbor's door at the same time.

I think remotes have a mind of their own and can't be trusted.

Foil Hat Time!

Terry, I'm surprised you didn't mention putting foil hat's over the TV.... don't you wear one on your own head to keep the voices from outer space from controlling your thoughts?

If they'd only leave it on you wouldn't have to worry about chewing through the restraints!

Best wishes, Paula

I wondered if I was the only one with this issue. Nice to know I'm not alone. Will try the aiming thing to see if I can avoid the "dual TV-remoteitis" syndrome. The one-pager that A/S put in my owners bag on the Sony/Blu-Ray/ TV's is NOT very complete, and of course the individual manuals don't give much help for this kind of issue.
