Two questions for the folks who use latex/tempurpedic beds:

1 - weight - How are you with lifting up and accessing storage underneath the bed? While using a full 60x80 mattress has space access disadvantages, that's expected - so I am more interested in how 70+ pounds acts against the gas-struts (and if 11" of mattress can get in the way of) for opening the under-the-bed storage.

2 - under-mattress breath-ability. I guess the question here is, are these mattresses as cushy and conforming on their bottom base side, or are they dense/hard enough to allow for airflow when using a mesh or other liner beneath the mattress to help prohibit humidity-based mold growth. The last thing I would want is to spend a thousand dollars or more on a comfortable night's sleep, only to have mold growing from condensation underneath in the middle of the winter or early spring time. with a trad mattress, this is combated with some breathable mesh materials.

To answer:

1. So far, not a problem on the 9" latex. The gas struts seem to hold it up. It is heavier, I'm not sure how much (a good question for Rocky Mountain). Our 27FB with Island Queen has a drawer on each side as well as one at the foot, so we only have to lift the bed to get to the center compartment, which just contains some extra blankets and things we don't often use.

2. Good question. The mattress just rests on the plywood deck. We'll have to keep an eye on that, especially since we live in a very humid area...

1) the struts lift it no problem and access is no problem. 2) Never had a moisture problem. We do change our mattress every 6 months or so to get the latest and greatest. In the Airstream we spend the most time sleeping on our mattress, about 1/3 of the day or about 8 hours, so we demand the very best to get fully rested to enjoy the next day to the fullest. It's like a rolling 1st class hotel suite. And no bed bugs!
