Forward Overhead Storage Cabinet Removal

Is it just me or does the forward cabinet (on the 25FB) seem like a big waste of space? I'm very limited on my tongue weight so I can't put much up there certainly while towing, and it makes that side of the bed completely unusable for me. Has anyone ever removed that cabinet in a newer model and / or know what's behind it? Could it simply be removed or would some serious surgery need to be done? I don't know what the cabinet weighs but it couldn't be light.

I have to admit we have not stayed in our AS for more than a few nights so maybe that cabinet becomes really useful.

I sleep on that side, but I usually just crawl over. That said I have bumped my head a couple of times.

We do use that cabinet for our pillows and linens and wouldn't want to give that up.

I wonder if there are aluminum panels behind the cabinet? I bet not??

Yeah, I wonder. It seems putting those panels up would be logical but not so cost effective. I'm planning a visit to the factory this summer so will explore then. Good idea with pillows and linens. "That" side of the bed is so tiny I've contemplated removing that little side table and putting a King size mattress in there too.
