I checked out one in Largo that looked really nice. I contacted them and they put me on a wait list. Previous people are given first choice. They also consider a month to be 'short'. They want you to stay several months. This being my first time I didn't want to commit to being possibly stuck in a park for several months but since so many stay there, it must be nice. From the road it looked to be pretty crowded with side by side trailers. So we opted to roam the state parks for a month, had a great time.
An area that's fairly close to Orlando is Zephyrhills. There are a LOT of parks in that area. We stayed in one for a couple of nights. It's mostly permanent residents, older retirees in semi-permanent trailers. It was clean, friendly people, decent rate with a Good Sam discount.

But there are a lot of other resorts in that area. Zephyrhills' population doubles in the winter months.
