I checked out one in Largo that looked really nice. I contacted them and they put me on a wait list. Previous people are given first choice. They also consider a month to be 'short'. They want you to stay several months. This being my first time I didn't want to commit to being possibly stuck in a park for several months but since so many stay there, it must be nice. From the road it looked to be pretty crowded with side by side trailers. So we opted to roam the state parks for a month, had a great time.

An area that's fairly close to Orlando is Zephyrhills. There are a LOT of parks in that area. We stayed in one for a couple of nights. It's mostly permanent residents, older retirees in semi-permanent trailers. It was clean, friendly people, decent rate with a Good Sam discount.

But there are a lot of other resorts in that area. Zephyrhills' population doubles in the winter months.

Orlando has a great KOA on Lake Whippoorwill, there are two State Parks nearby. Kissimmee has several. Haines City is not too far away but you wouldn't have to put up with the terrible Orlando traffic. If you are interested in any of these and want more information, please let me know or send me an email to TrueLoveCamping@gmail.com and I'll be happy to help. We live about 2 hours away from Orlando, so I am very familiar with the area!

I've stayed at Salt Springs in the Ocala Forest. Nice natural camp. We didn't have hookups, but washrooms were great.

This is an RV Park I'm looking at for this year. Close to Ocala and Silver Springs. Weather can be cool at times, but prices are cheaper than say south of Tampa.
