Almost solo traveller with desert dreams!

Hi all! I recently purchased a 1976 28' Argosy and will be heading out solo (well... plus two cats!) in September if my renovation goes as planned.
Even though I have very few reno skills, I have great friends who will help me piece it all together.
I am planning on heading to the Southwest to hopefully volunteer in Nat'l parks or get a job at a private campground ... although I have been sad to see how many listings ask for couples.
Does anyone have any advice on work/trade for rent in the southwest deserts? Also I will be converting the whole thing into a dark room for on-the-road photography, but I hope to stay in each place for about 3 months at a time.
Thanks!

I'm afraid I don't have much advice, I'm in kind of the same boat. I'm hoping to be able to travel more next year, if my saving up and renovation keeps going at the same pace as it is. I have two cats and a dog, but I also attend conventions and sell art, so I don't have to totally rely on campgrounds hiring me. Best of luck!
