Top of Georgia Airstream Park Communications Forum Wanted
Like many, I have spent a lot of time at the ToG. There are times I would like to communicate with others currently in the park, or who may be planning to be in the park. Also, I figure there are people who might like to ask questions about the park or the area.
I would like to start a "Clubs, Organizations & Associations" for Top of Georgia users or potential users here at AirForums, with it's own sub-forum. Hopefully one could join the group and start conversations in that forum and follow those that were interesting to them.
But before I request a Top of Georgia Airstream Park User Group and forum be created on our behalf, I thought I would kick the idea around generally.
Everything about the user group would be independent of the park management and the Georgia Unit of the WBCCI, not that we have anything against those wonderful people and organizations. Just that it would be independent.
My thoughts on the group's information (fields you fill out when requesting a new group be created) are below.
Please reply to this thread with your thoughts.
Club/Group Name - Top of Georgia Airstream Park User Group
Slogan/tagline - We use the Top of Georgia Airstream Park. 'nuff said.
Club/Group Description - This group is for people who use, or may be thinking of using, the Top of Georgia Airstream Park. The group is not affiliated with the park in any way. But there's important stuff we need to talk about. Like, if I leave a cooler with food outside will it attract a bear? Or, anyone want to hike to the top of Mount Yonah this weekend? Not really suitable for posting on a general forum here, therefore this group. Let's do it!
Dues - We ain't got no stinkin' dues.

We've wanted to go since we first heard about it from our PO. I went to the website. It appears it opens on April 1, but I didn't see a closing date. We were going to use it as a stop on our way to Canopener this next January, but that may not be possible. All this in preface to agreeing an informational thread on ToG would be keen!

I think it's a good idea. Although, we've never been, we are definitely interested in visiting. I've always dismissed the idea of going because we aren't WBCCI members. I'd use the forum to ask questions like "are non-WBCCI types able to camp there?" ... thanks

We are at TOG now and will certainly be here through the end of August if not longer. Looking forward to seeing you.

Bandits, do you have to be a WBCCI member to stay there?

What a deal ! $7.00 a day for full hook-up, free cable and wi-fi,and yes you have to be a member of the WBCCI . A good reason to be a member.

Yes you do have to be a WBBCI member to stay at TOG. You can save a few dollars by being a member of TOG and renewing your membership through TOG. We think TOG is the best kept secret in the Airstream community.

I am do happy to see this post. We are camping at Clark Creek North this weekend and Re dying to go top TOG, dong know anything about it. Is it child-friendly? Is there shade? Is there fishing or wading or swimming? And can we join WBCCI there? Do we need reservations?

I searched around but I can't find information on membership application and cost. TOG appears to be providing real value to members. Can you link info or PM me?

The Washington unit at Lacey also has preferential camping pricing for the people who pay their International WBCCI dues through their unit. It is an additional incentive to become a full member of their unit.

As far as I know, it's a closed park for only WBCCI members. I'm not a member. So when I head up that way I simply make a reservation at Unicoi State Park or head up to the North Georgia Fairgrounds.

So, replies about ToG, but not much about the idea of an Airforums Group for ToG.
I think a lot of ToG users don't use Airforums, so wouldn't benefit. Maybe that could change though.
I like the idea but often have poor judgement when it comes to how other people think. So I'm really looking for comments about the ToG Airforums Group idea.

TOG is owned by the Georgia Unit. It is basic friendly camping. No pool, etc. But it does have hiking trails. Lots of activities nearby . Helen, ga, state parks with biking and hiking at parks. Helen ga is a swiss replica town, fun. Cleveland ga where the cabbage patch dolls live is nearby as is the app trail. Friendly laid back people. Small playground for kids. Again you must be a WBCCI member to camp there. jim

Airforums ToG (The Top)
Danielle and I are interested in hearing posts/discussions related to Top of Georgia (The Top as I sometimes here it called). We have not spent a night there but we plan to - does that count?
So... I/we vote for a thread/group/etc. related to Top of Georgia.
Regarding ALANSD's shameless plug for Springstream and Falluminum - both those events are lots of fun with lot's of attendees. If you like the North Georgia area go to Top of Georgia before or after the spring or fall Airforums rally.

We love TOG and the town of Helen! My avatar pic was taken while we were there last October. Jerry: how much do you save if you're members of TOG?
