1958 Pay scale all branches

Hope this ends up in the military forum

Thought someone might be interested in a pay scale all branches 1958.

E1 through O10 also have basic allowances, hazard and incentive pay scale on the back of the document shown.

I came in the Navy 7 years after this and actual pay was still low, yet many of us saved nearly every paycheck, or cash while at sea and left most of it "on the books". Of course a pack of cigarettes was 10 cents while room, board, and medical was 0.

I served with Army Artillery in the early 60's. I remember my pay to be the same as shown.

So I have a question. How do you get to be a 4 Star General Officer (O10) with less than 6 months of service? Wish the Army had offered me that career track.
