Congrats on saving the AWC '62 Ambassador. It sure has a unique history and I'm glad you'll be taking over the project. As for a blogging page, take a look at blogspot.com where a bunch of us have blogs set up. Check out mine in my signature along with several others I have listed as my favorites.

Bob,
Congrats and take good care of that trailer! I really wanted it, but the timing was not right for me, so just like for Scotts ATW #8671, I will have to live vicariously thru your restoration and adventures.

I had given some thought to this project as well, but with my wife out of work and the magnitude of the project, I was forced to pass. Please keep us up to date as this trailer returns to the road.

Bob, you are a very lucky guy. I, like Richard, thought seriously about making that trailer a project and decided I had enough irons in the fire. I think you will find your 1962 to be very user friendly and quite comfortable for almost all your needs. You have a very long road ahead of you and I look forward to watching you progress. I highly recommend a blog on Blogspot. I have two and enjoy reading the three or so dozen I have linked on my blog. Please let me know when you get a blog going no matter which host you use.

I'm happy to see this thread is still alive and kicking and that 6472 has such a loyal following. I'm sure Bob realizes the responsibility that goes along with ownership and will do her right. I will look forward to reading about her next chapter. Here's to the next 47 years.

Going, going, gone

As I write Bob is hitching up 6472 for the trip to Missouri for her next, not final, chapter.

Bob, I've been looking through the photos Scott Goranson posted that he got from the Tolle's. There are some pretty cool pictures of 6472.

Congrats Bob, you will have vintage owners from all across the country keeping their eyes on your progress. Most of us a little envious of your find, but very happy for you. Great to see someone get the trailer with an intrest in her history and bringing her back to life.

Thanks, Norm,
Thanks Linda,
I have mostly doing research and haven't done anything worth reporting ... and have been helping Soldiermedic on his 53 cloud weather/job permitting ...

Bob's been working a lot of his trailer, asked me to share. He's got much of the paint stripped off. Found where a plate was on the back, did some checking around in the Tolles photos and found out it said "Left Hand Drive"

Wow, he has made a lot of progress. The paint stripping is a misearable project. Can't wait to see more on this one.

Allow me to resurrect this thread, for a good reason!

Today Bob has handed off the care of this Around the World to my wife and I. We look forward to continuing withe the fantastic progress Bob has made. The trailer will be towed very close to the mothership tomorrow. We will give a salute, and continue on to home where we will work to get the trailer dry and safe.

The Airstream will appear at a nearby rally sometime this year. Until then, hats off to Bob for his great work!

Wow! I LOVE this thread. What a fun vintage and modern history. I'm impressed by all the detective work. Do you have photos of the current condition?

Congrats Dan! I know Bob did a ton stripping all the paint and tar off that thing. Such a cool trailer with those bunk windows. I look forward to seeing it progress again. Are you planning on posting photos of the restoration?

Congrats Dan!

Here are a couple of photos of #6472 I took when I visited Bob and #6472 in August 2014. I blocked out Bob's face just in case he did not want his photo published. As you can see the paint removal was successful.
