Canadian Trailers Back in the '70's
It was easy to spot a Canadian AS back then as they had small mudflaps installed behind the rear axle and the LP gas regulator was mounted on the front of the trailer and not on the the tanks like US trailers. They also had a different wiring harness to comply with Canadian (UL) regulations.
The mudflaps made no sense to me since the rear tires are so far forward of the rear of the trailer that even if you were driving on a gravel road it would be hard to kick up stones or rocks to the back. Guess the government finally agreed and did away with that requirement. Have seen tons of Canadian AS in FL with no mudflaps.

No photos from back then, but can sure remember the little mudflaps on the AS coming down the assembly line.

I have installed mudflaps on mine....keeps sand and grit from coating the dump valves and getting in the "wrap" compartments.

You know, mudflaps to keep the dirt and grime off the dump valves is a great idea!
I could probably redneck tech some out of the leftover bits of rubber from the Rock Tamers.
I did make small mud flaps for my utility trailer out of leftover pieces of Rock Tamers flap because I had just painted the trailer and wanted the paint job to last longer.

Never thought of the dirt and sand issue. I wonder if that is what the Canadian Gov't had in mine when the mandated them.

I made a flap and mounted it just ahead of the valves using a piece of carpet underpaid and straightened metal band from a large hose clamp to protect from wheel spray.
It has worked well all this summer. The valves are clean
I have a photo of it, but don' t know how to post it.
