Airstream Models

Hello,
Can someone help me with all the model names and extensions for airstream trailers. We have Limited Editions, Classics, Excella Classics, Sovereign, Excella, Safari, Ambassador, CCD, Safari, Safari SS and the list goes on - and on. What is the difference between all of them?

Thank you,

Ray Hoem

Ray,

Take some time and look at RJ Dial's site Vintage Airstream Home especially the photo archive section. This will answer many of your questions.

Ray in general the name refers to the length of the trailer. There are of course exceptions to the rule. Excellas for example were at one time a trim level for the 31ft Sovereigns, then they became there own model and were available in several different lengths. A CCD is a designer version of a model of trailer.
Each decade has it`s own rule of thumb and just as many exceptions.
In today`s trailers the model name distinction is very blurry as model names are avilable in different lengths and trim levels.

The model name and length connection disappeared in 1980 when Thor purchased Airstream from Beatrice.
