Maybe Airstream built one more on special request the next year? Airstream did build custom ordered trailers, after all. You could always ask Airstream if they have any info on your trailer.
Or....
Some states directed car dealers, and perhaps trailer dealers, to declare a car's year to be the year that it was first sold. For example, there are hundreds of Nash Metropolitans registered as
1962 or even
1963 even though the last of them were built in
1961. Something similar may have happened with your Panorama, in that it sat on a lot until
1956 before it found a buyer. Just speculation, but it's possible.
Good luck finding the real explanation. If you find out, please report back.
