Where is the microwave on a 30FBB?

I can't seem to find any pictures - if you opt for the combination microwave/convection oven on a Flying Cloud 30 FBB, where is it located? We like the idea of a combination unit that gives us a little more storage, and I don't anticipate doing a ton of baking on the road. But the only pictures I can find of the microwave are showing it above the refrigerator... and I'm SHORT.

Can anyone tell me if we opt for a combination unit where it is located?

And if you love or hate your combination oven/microwave, I'd love to hear that too.

Thanks! You guys are awesome!

Right in the middle, under the counter...see photo. I hated it until I got used to it. Now I love it and wouldn’t go back to the uneven heat of the propane.

You need to order one of these though.

FYI Colonial Airstream has a great collection of “walk through” videos.

Will post a link soon, when I get back home.

Colonial Airstream videos

Here is Colonial's YT site, with Patrick Botticelli doing an good number of "walk through" videos through the years. Needless to say, Patrick is an amazing resource for all matters Airstream, as well as being a gentleman, and easy to get along with. Through many years of up-sizing, down-sizing, and considering Class B vans like the Travato, Patrick has always been attentive and fair IMO.

The video for the 30FB Office model is here:

I don't see a video specifically for the 30FBB, so look around there may be one, or one for an earlier model year.

Have a good weekend.

Thanks! I actually talked to Patrick the other day to get a quote and he was really helpful. I think I've even convinced my husband that I'm not totally crazy to want to drive a few states and hours away to get our airstream rather than go with the less helpful dealers that are much closer.

You’re not crazy at all. I live in Texas. Twice in the last 3 years, I’ve made the trip to NJ to purchase from Colonial. Great prices, excellent service, friendly people.

Ditto to jaybauman . . . well worth the trip . . . plus . . . for future years . . . Colonial is conveniently located for East Coast N/S trips from the Canadian Maritime Provinces all the way to Key West, Florida.

Please say "Hi" to Patrick . . . my earlier comments still apply.

Happy trails,

Peter

As much as I considered going outstate when I originally bought my first Airstream, a couple of things went through my mind. One was the convenience of a local dealership about 35 miles from my home. Second was the fact that as a purchase customer of that dealer, I felt that I did carry some leverage regarding warranty and service issues. Finally was a statement from the service manager when I asked the question as to whether customers got preferential treatment when calling for service issues. He looked at me dead in the eye and said when you call for an appointment our records do indicate whether you bought the trailer from us or not.

That pretty much put to bed whether I'd drive 400 miles each way to save $350 on a deal from an out of state dealer.

Thankfully we have a good dealer in my area and I've never had to regret that decision I made almost 20 years ago. While price is important, the value of a good dealership and service department is invaluable.

Unfortunately in this day I think selection becomes a big driver as to where you get that new trailer from. Those big dealers like Colonial seem to have a big advantage over the small dealerships and then you have to deal with the local talent pool who services those trailers you buy from out of state. Hard to find long term employees who have the experience and secondly the new trailers with some of their high tech components are even more challenging to the servicing employees.

I remember my dealership sent his prep guy to JC years ago at the dealership's expense to do a seminar with the factory employees on the common problems he was finding with new trailers. My dealer felt that imparting that information would more than offset the cost to send to JC. He was a gem and unfortunately my dealership lost him after many years of service due to an offer of a higher paying position elsewhere.
