Anything from my 'Cellar'...my last name, BTW!
You can't have a last name like 'Cellar', and not enjoy the 'fruit of the grape' ! My folks lived for over 50 years in the hills overlooking the Napa Valley, and made their own wine from time-to-time...and my dad was fond of firing up his small 'evaporative' device in the cellar, er, basement, once in a while, to reduce some of the volume of the grape juice into an elixir for medicinal uses...
We've lived for years here in the central Calif region, among lots of those grape vineyards, again fitting with our last name! In fact, we're not far from the outfit that fills up those Franzia 'boxes', Gene is so fond of in Arkansas...as are we for our every day meals. Those boxes really 'travel' well, too, and fit in odd spaces in the AS - and they don't roll around or break!
Now for a really great buzz, you just can't beat the old Red Ripple...

Christopher,
Not quite sure what 'alotta crap' you're refering to here...I believe most of us here know that the denotes a 'joke' or gag line, as of course I was doing...or, if you haven't tried a nice tepid jug of 'Ripple', don't knock it until you've tried it.... (that was another joke)...

The big Z
Read this review while in the waiting room.....
R.I.P. Zima: The Greatest Chick Drinks of All Time
Today’s stock tip: Buy Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery shares. Why go for jug wine stocks today, you ask? Well, Gallo makes Boone’s Farm wines, and with the news yesterday that the famed malternative (yes, it’s called that in the press release) beverage Zima was being discontinued, there’s suddenly a huge void in the liquor-drinks-for-young-girls market.
Okay, “huge void” may be overstating things just a tad; truth is, we didn’t even know they still made Zima these days. Still, Zima brings back lots of memories'hanging with young chicks, plying them with alcohol that tasted like soda and then…well, suffice it to say our memories are probably clearer than theirs (it was only last Friday, after all). In remembrance of the Z, we pour a little on the ground and rate it the greatest chick drink of all time.....

Personally I love a big bold red! Zin tops my list. As far as whites Viognier is lovely. My last A/S trip was to Central Coast of California, I bought several cases of wine...they're gone now, have to go back!
Next big trip is back up to Washington State Wine Country this summer....yum.

Iowa Wines
Hi to all the other wine lovers out there. I am from Iowa and I have tried wines from all over the world. My wife and I went to a wine festival a few years back and we found some of the best tasting wines ever.
Iowa wines remind me a lot of the Sanoma Valley wine country of the western United States, but when it comes to natural sweetness I think they are more pure in taste. We found a little winery near Oskaloosa and Leighton, Iowa, called Tassel Ridge Winery. I enjoyed myself when we visited their winery. I have never had a chocolate wine before and I was a little sceptical. I figured it would be like a liquore and be overly sweet. It was like a enchanting wine that had an arouma of chocolate and merlot. They explaned the process of how it was made and it was all natural by mixing two different types of grapes and letting them ferment.
Well I am starting to sound like a sells pitch but if you ever get out this midwest way and want to check it out you won't be disaapointed.

Ok, I'm obviously not a wine snob, but I do really enjoy a nice white wine. Red is out of the question due the migraines they give me.
I always have a nice BOX of Crisp White in the fridge for everyday. I'm hoping that the box will fit nicely in the AS fridge. Have only went out in the trailer twice and have yet to try it, but I did purchase some awsome unbreakable wine glasses to take next time we go.
For nice occastions we usually have Kendall Jackson Chardonnay.

Silver Oak in Paper Cups!
We usually pour a nice Silver Oak Cabernet at rallies. We drink it out of paper cups to keep things real.
Pouilly-Fuissé is one of our favorites. Summer in a glass-light, crisp and refreshing!
Don't get us wrong though-we've got cases of Two Buck Chuck in our cellar and wouldn't mind adding a bottle or two of Boone's Farm!

Well, Christopher, when you get the money to buy a bottle you'll understand.
In the meantime, I hear there's a Wildcat travel trailer you might want to trade your Airstream for.

I would have to say Glen Manor Vineyards 2005 Glen Manor Petit Verdot. I must admit that I am biased because the vineyard is down the road from me and it is a Virginia wine.

StingRayL82, maybe I misunderstand your post. Maybe you can restate your comments in another way that don't sound so offensive and snobbish?
If your excellent post with the description about an experience with a wine tasting seems far-fetched to Christopher, well, maybe it just does. However, when I read your post, I experienced the tastes and smells described, even though I never have personally experienced them. I know a little bit about wine tasting though.
Of course, I laughed when I read his post too. Put the experience in a new light.
Personally, I wouldn't spend $399/bottle on wine because I don't have that kind of disposable income. But I enjoyed the vicarious thrill of your post. Thanks.
Phil

Brag,Brag,Brag... Even your profile name tells tells everyone that you own a Corvette with the L82 Package/engine. Big deal ! The reason i have a Airstream is not to talk to people about the $399 bottle of wine you can afford-and i can't haha. I have a Airstream so i can meet and enjoy the REAL people, exchange stories about travel, family, life and also laugh !! So im keeping my airstream, but you on the other hand should donate yours to charity and check yourself into the Ritz Carlton order your $399 bottle of wine and rub elbows with others like yourself...

So sad this thread has taken a sour note. Too each their own. Whether you are drinking two buck chuck or a more expensive bottle, who cares. Enjoy what you have in your glass! Drink up, be merry.

Phil and Sue,
I would be happy to elaborate/reword my response to Christopher. Let me set the scene for everyone, I can be extremely sarcastic, especially when someone who doesn't know me rudely tells me that my post is pure crap.
I lost my wife, Sherri in 2005 to metastatic breast cancer. We were both in the military, until she gave birth to our daughter, Renee, in Hawaii. We were fortunate enough to have been stationed in Monterey, CA for five years and took advantage of every moment together to explore new places. Carmel was by far our favorite.
Sherri died, while we were stationed in Maryland, and I promised her that I would spread her ashes in Big Sur, where she ran the 1996 Marathon. I was newly married to Brooke, who lost her husband Jodie to liver cancer, and we took a month of leave and traveled across the US, first to the Pacific Northwest and then down the Pacific Coast, stopping in Carmel, where we dined at Little Napoli. We didn't have a lot of money, as Christopher rudely implied, but we wanted to celebrate our loved ones' lives, and that wine did just that.
I have family in the south of France who are winemakers and have been for the last four generations. I was, again, fortunate enough to go there every summer to visit my family and spend time learning the ins and outs of winemaking, and I truly enjoy it. I can enjoy a $12 bottle of Kendall-Jackson just as well as a $400 bottle of Quintarelli. The thread title is my favorite wine, and that by far is. That doesn't mean I drink it everyday.
As for my screen name, yes I did own a 1979 L-82 Corvette. I bought it from Sherri's father, who bought it new in '79, for the tidy sum of $6000. It had 36,726 miles on it, and it was a mechanical nightmare. I spent the next 7 years and $14,000 trying to keep it running. Sherri and I finally traded it for a 1973 Dodge Fireball Class C motorhome, which is what started our passion for RV'ing.
So before anyone tries to flame me for a retort I made to someone who was extremely rude to me, search my posts about Sherri and see how much I love her and how much her memory means to me.
That $400 bottle of Quintarelli honored the memory of a wonderful wife and mother and now sits in our sitting room as a candle holder.
As Ben Grimm would say, "Nuff said".
