Stir-fried chicken with oyster sauce and asian vegetables and, wait for it, . . . steamed rice.

Shrimp scampi and a salad. Ditto on the lack of dessert.

Baked chicken in chiopino sauce, broiled garlic bread and salad last night. Fresh caught black bass fellets with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot raisin salad tonight. I have a friend that loves to fish but is alergic to fish, I asked for a couple of fish and they brought 5 bass and 1 lake salmon.

Not exactly dinner but the last couple days have been making home made Marmalade.
I love the strong orange flavor of the best Scotch marmalade but it costs $5 for a small jar! I can make 10 jars for that using nothing but Seville oranges and sugar!
The Seville oranges are only available this time of year.
Most delicious with buttered brown toast and hot tea.

Last night was barbecue pork sandwiches with "no sugar" in the BBQ sauce, with Tater Tots and steamed mixed veggies.

Monthaversaries......, what monthaversaries?
Yhottys:
after almost 30 years you forget the "monthaversaries", but not the dessert!! Don't forget that! (and dessert can mean anything 'sweet' )

No-no! Monthaversaries are good! We celebrate the 29th of every month (23+ years), at least by acknowledging it and sometimes I get a rose.
Last night we had grilled pork chops, home fries and salad with tomatoes. Tonight, homemade beef and noodles with green beans. Meat & potatoes hubby is a happy man.
Travel safe.

Steelegood,
We did talk about having dessert at home, what with all that whipped cream and hot chocolate sauce. Then we got home and promptly agreed to take a nap to rest up for dessert!
Keepin' the romance alive!

I love the monthaversary idea! And keeping the romance alive.
Tonight we're having baked rainbow trout (again courtesy of our friend in Alaska!) with asparagus and cornbread dressing.

(Do we celebrate monthaversaries every month? or just that "special" month? )

Monthaversaries Clarified
Okay-so monthaversaries are celebrated once a month, preferrably every month.
And "Yay" Sharon and Maggie! Obviously the ladies are big proponents of monthaversaries. Keep 'em coming! Nothing spells romance like celebrating the date you were legally committed (to each other, that is).

Crab!!!
Last night we had ribeyes, steamed rice and spinach.
Tonight, we're off to a crab feed. We'll be hanging out with some old Italian fishermen, and local crabbers at the annual San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Association's Crab Feed. We're bringing a bottle of Kendall Jackson chardonnay for our table's guests and a bottle of Silver Oak cabernet for the silent auction that takes place later this evening.
So we're thinking the menu will be:
Italian Salumi
Garlic Bread
Pasta with red sauce
Salad
and CRAB!
Can you overdose on crab? Gemma's gonna try and find out.

Tonight Chicken Alfredo with fettuccini, Broccoli & Salad. Apparently we are going to have two "monthaversaries" each month, cuz' we've had a decades debate over when we "committed' to each other (will only explain that one in person)! LOL!
Hey, Hyottys, Daughter #1 and boyfriend will be flying out to CA for spring break, and to visit family friends on 3/5. (Actually will be in the LA and Pebble Beach areas)

We Got Your Crab Right Here!
Okay, so we went to the crab feed and didn't really know what we were in for. We should have known when it was being held at the Sheraton and tickets were $100 each. We thought we might get kicked out-most of the gentlemen were wearing suits and some of the ladies were wearing cocktail dresses. Thank goodness Murray wore a sport coat and Gemma wore heels! We were going to wear t-shirts and jeans. Come on-it's a crab feed! This was not your typical crab feed held at your local Elks or VFW hall. Everyone was really nice and we had a great time. We even brought some crab home!
Instead of cold cuts and spaghetti to accompany the crab as we had originally speculated, we had clam chowder, caesar salad, lotsa crab, grilled corn with garlic butter and then for dessert they brought out this amazing genoise, meyer lemon mousse napoleon wrapped in a white chocolate ribbon and garnished with berries.
So last night we got to dine on more crab and some home made raspberry cobbler.
We attached some before and after images. We apologize for the poor quality of the images-all we had were our iPhones and they don't do so well in low light situations.
