Frederic,
My wife sent me looking for recipies and I came across your thread. It has been awhile since anyone has posted. How about an update on how you and your family are doing and how the caravan went. If I could get a copy of Sherri's cookbook I would be delighted.
Thanks,
Mac

How weird; I haven't posted or looked at this forum for quite a long time, probably because I spent all last summer living in our Sovereign, and I got burned out by it. I go to the forum on a whim and see a post on this thread. It got me looking back at all the posts I wrote from almost two years ago, and the sadness momentarily came back. I am a much different person today, and I feel sorry for that Frederic, who felt so lost and sad.
Here is an update for everyone:
Brooke and I are still very happily married and plan on staying that way for eternity. Last summer, we hitched up our Sovereign and took the kids on a cross-country vacation, with our final destination Ft. Huachuca, so I could attend a military school.
Along the way, we stopped in several locations; I finally got to see the Pacific Northwest and absolutely fell in love with Washington State. We stayed in Westport, Washington...gorgeous is the only word I can use to describe it. We spent the 4th of July in Oregon on the beach and watched the mill workers blow off $50,000 worth of fireworks. Drinking Heineken by a bonfire and being with loved ones is the way to go.
We spent a few days with one of Brooke's friends, in Santa Cruz, CA. There, I got to see the talented craftsmanship of Brooke's late husband, Jodie; he was a contractor and redid the beach house we stayed at. It was stunningly beautiful. Brooke scattered Jodie's ashes on the beach, in Santa Cruz, across from the beach house. We then backtracked and all went up to Sacramento, to spend some time on these same friends' horse ranch.
We stopped in Monterey for a day, and I saw my old Italian barber to get my hair cut, then we took Hwy 1 South and stopped in Big Sur, where I scattered Sherri's ashes from a cliff....I took the bag of ashes, cut a small slit in it and launched it into the sea; she would have liked that. We also stopped at Disneyland, and the kids had a blast, but the KOA we stayed at left much to be desired.
We lived in our Sovereign at the Tombstone Territories RV Park; it was the only park with a pool in that area. I learned very quickly that I do not care for extended living in a tin can; I even considered selling the Airstream, when we got home, but Brooke talked me into keeping it; we can use it on the weekends and go to National Parks and enjoy the forests, not cement pads with screaming kids.
I've been working at Fort Meade for the past three and a half years, and it's now time for me to move on to my next, and final, PCS move: Goodfellow AFB, in San Angelo, Texas. I will be an AIT (Advanced Individual Training) Instructor, teaching Basic Signals Intelligence Analysis. I have to go to Ft. Huachuca (again!) for a month of training, then I come home, pack up the gang and we're off.
That is my life for the past two years in a nutshell. It has been interesting, exciting and filled with love. Mac, I will get you a copy of Sherri's Cookbook, when I get home from work, or if someone else has it, please send it.

I read this thread and thought what a wonderful way to remember someone. I found it by searching for food ideas for on the road. I would be honored to receive a file copy and share it along with the story behind the cookbook. Is there a site where this can be downloaded or emailed to me at apolaroid1@mchsi.com Thank you so much for sharing, I will pass it on.

Just wondering how many people have gotten a copy so far. I think the last time I checked, it had made its way across the pond to Deutschland.

Frederic,
I lost my mom to the same devastating disease that took Sherri. It warmed my heart to read your post re: your life over the past two years, and I am so glad you found a new soul mate! I would love to have a copy of Sherri's cookbook. My email is warbler5@aol.com, or you could send me the link to the download site.
Cheers, Dee

Well I've finally gotten off my duff and uploaded Sherri's Cookbook to YouSendIt. Here is the link, let me know if it works. It's good for 100 downloads or 7 days.

Thank you for the link to Sherri's cookbook. You have given your wife quite a legacy and thank you so much for sharing her recipes. I just saw your link today. I was not on this forum when you originally posted the news of your wife's death. I am so sorry and send you our condolances. Sherri lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her and now on many forum member's computers. We will think of her when we make one of her dishes.....thank you so much for taking the time and energy to share with us. pj
