Portable burner
Has anyone found a nice, high BTU portable gas burner to connect to the outside gas quick connect (low pressure)? Either propane or NG that can be re-jetted for propane.

What type of burner? We have a Weber grill that has low pressure burners. Camp Chef has some options if you're looking for a cooktop, the Ranger is the most portable. I've considered but have not pulled the trigger on any of them yet.

Yes…. Academy Sporting Goods and many BBQ outfitters sell them.
Cut the regulator off this one’s hose and install a LP quick-connector system downstream of the trailer regulator. I use this to cook outdoors, iron skillets, or pancake grill, dutch-oven, etc

I've seen a couple of those, that might fit the bill. I like that you can place it away from everything to keep the spattering grease from getting all over your stuff. We did scallops today and it was 3 minutes to fry and an hour to clean up.

Thanks! That looks amazing and the reviews are great as well! I think I will get one. Which butane cannisters are you using?

Our go-to outdoor stove for the longest time was an Iwatani butane. Worked great except in freezing temps and cheapest place we found for Butane was Sam's. Since butane does not last very long and we do most cooking outdoors we wanted to move to a 2 burner stove that runs on the Airstream low pressure port. We ended up with a Camp Chef Ranger II which works on the low pressure port but and is not terribly big so we could use it on our GCI table. Worked OK but got pretty hot and did not do too well with in wind. If you really want to run off the low pressure port then one of the Camp Chef units is probably your best bet. We then decided to just get a regular camp stove and on the advice of a local REI sales rep ended up with a 2 burner Eureka Ignite plus with a small 5lb propane tank. We absolutely love this stove as it will do a low simmer well AND has amazing heat for rapid boil. The little 5lb propane tank is just about as small as a coiled 20ft LP hose and lasts a long time just cooking with it. Good luck!

I am not sure what you would be using it for however have you thought about a portable induction stove top. I have had one for years and have foud it very effective for my cooking purposes. It uses electric instead of propane. They come in all price ranges and are definitely capable of getting very very hot.

I’m curious to hear your report out because we have considered that stove as well.

I am a big fan of Camp Chef. Their customer service has been solid for me when I needed help. That sells me on a product or company. I use the two burner Explorer and it was easy peasy to configure it for use with the low pressure port on my trailer.

Yes we have an electric one, we wanted to add a gas one. I think with a 15,000 gas burner it will heat the pan/wok more evenly and the control of heat will be easier/faster. We will still use our induction one, it serves it's purpose well.

Camp Chef Ranger II is the one I use. It works great.
To convert it for Low Pressure Port operation, remove the supplied hose+regulator and install a 1/4 female brass quick disconnect fitting. I also installed a 90 degree elbow before the quick disconnect fitting in order to make storing the stove easier.
There are very few stoves and grills that can work at the very low pressure coming from the Airstream LP port. Nearly all of the commonly available grills and stovetops require a much higher pressure than is available from the lp port. Be very careful with your selection.
I also purchased a foldable windscreen to wrap around the Ranger II as it is sensitive to wind.
Additional quick disconnect based propane hoses come in handy too. I have a total of about 35ft in a total of 3 segments, which makes it easy to reach any picnic tables at my campsite.

I will let you know. We have a camping trips next month. I’ve heard that the grill is not great (grease can leak onto the burner) but the griddle works well.
We’re not big eaters of meat so we will be doing mostly egg, pancake and low fat content stuff.

While the Rainier is a great camp stove, be aware it will not work properly on the Airstream low pressure port. It is a high pressure stove requiring 15 PSI or so regulated pressure. The Airstream port is 11 inches WC which is only about 0.4 PSI. Like Foobar, I found the smallest good working low pressure stove to be the Ranger and agree it needs a wind screen. I don't want to discourage you on using the Rainier but would rather suggest investing in a 5lb propane tank like the one linked below and skip the low pressure port. I ultimately ditched the Ranger and went to a regular camp stove (Eureka) and for us it works better and is easier than messing with the hose. The reason I chose the tank in the link is the wide base keeps it from tipping over without securing it. Pricy but makes for a nice portable combo without messing with the wasteful green bottles or hauling a big tank.

We ultimately want one that we can use with the airstream propane tanks but got this as a gift. It’s more of an entry/newbie level stove for us. I have read that we can use a 5lb tank with an adapter. We will probably go with that. I don’t want to pollute the earth with non refillable bottles.

We were at REI yesterday and found a refillable propane tank - Ignik. Holds 4.5 liters of propane and comes with the adaptor hose.

I’m searching for other options but we definitely decided to not go with the small green bottles.

Portable burner
We refilled our green bottles back when we used them.
Can’t seem to find the original, the Shnozzle. Looks maybe like knocks off may have put them out of business. That’s a shame. But there are lots on Amazon if you search there.
