Thumbs down OH wine-o..

Where to store??

We usually take at least half dozen bottles of vino with us if we're going to be out more that two days. sic

When we went to imbibe over the Forth we found one of our favorites had
self opened. No it wasn't the bubbly, plain old white. Made a bit of a mess
too. It was a warm weekend but we never expected this.

BEST PLACE TO KEEP IT COOL??

When traveled in our Lance camper we kept the wine in the bottom of the closet up by the bed, even in hot weather it never seemed to get too warm. Now that we are moving up in the world, 2007 Safari 25', I think we will start by keeping it under the bed. It looks like we can keep it upright using the 6 bottle carriers from the grocery store.

Now, for the serious answer. We've had good luck with a Coleman 12 volt picnic cooler. It plugs in to the 12 volt outlets that are in the trailer, and keeps things in it about 45 degrees or so.

I usually travel with 6-12 bottles of the vintage stuff, and keep them in a Rubbermaid Plastic container, with rubber shelf liner between the bottles as a cushion. This will contain any 'accident'.......BTW.......what a waste!!!!

I use one or two of those cardboard wine six-pack holders they have at most large grocery stores such as Albertsons, Vons, Safeway etc. I put 'em in the coolest part of the AS which in my case is the closet in the center of the trailer. It's also surrounded by clothes so helps to keep it insulated. I keep a bottle or two of white in the refrigerator so I am always prepared...this comes from my years of training as a Boy Scout!

I'll have you know..that's "vintage" OLD FART.

Actually it was in the closet next to the slide out pantry. Never been a problem in the past, the Ice Wine survived... PTL.

We were boondock'n at the lake so draining the batts might be a problem.
It did happen at the campsite, and the DW suggested why not in the water, more I think about it that just might work.
