Grill that is good and will fit in back compartment
Newbie - my eyes were bigger than my belly so to speak - bought a great portable grill on Amazon- only to find out it won't fit in rear compartment of my AS (2016 Classic) - don't want to pack this baby in the trailer or in our truck - so - and I know this will prompt several responses - but any recommendations for portable grill - that will fit in rear compartment?

Gas or Charcoal?
For gas I have a Camco Olympian 5500. It fits in the rear compartment of my 2002 30 Classic and fit in my 2001 Safari 25. They are a little pricey. I saw a very similar looking grill at Sam's. The Camco has the capability to be rail mounted on the trailer, the Sam's club unit did not.
For charcoal I have a Cobb. It is good for general use but probably doesn't get hot enough to get a good sear on a steak. Search on here for Hibachi. Maggie recently bought a grill that she and others seem to like that might fit.

I carry an Olympian 4100 gas grill in the area behind the frig. I did have to make a small mod to the handle to close the frig vent. Been there for 23 years and two grills.

I've had an Olympian 4100 for many years (can't recall how many, but probably 20). Fits in the trunk easily and has worked well. I have replaced the burner once, due to rust, but that's expected. I disassemble once a year and put in the dishwasher at home....when my wife isn't around.

Keep looking. When I needed a grill plate, that now shows on the Camco parts website, for my 4100 Olympian claimed they never made that model even after I sent them a picture with their name cast in the cover. I don't remember where I got the last one but they are still out there.

I have a Magma Newport II Classic Gourmet Series Gas Grill, this is not a cheap brand but will last you a life time.
Go to https://www.wholesalemarine.com/magm...ies-gas-grill/.
I had one on my boat and they hold up to anything, rain, snow and always look new.
I have a bag and I added a Magma Gourmet Grill Serving Shelf with Removable Cutting Board and bag hold 2 bottle of propane, easy to grab an go with all the stuff in one bag, fits in the back of our AS.

Grill?
Weber makes a gas go anywhere grill that will fit and it can be placed in a container that will fit with grill in it. You will most likely have to remove regulator before storage. It is held on with a simple c clamp. I used one for years.

Hi from AZ. . . we love our Weber Q1000 gas grill, but I don't have a classic, so not sure about the fit in thing. It's not very big, & we've used ours for years. . . regards, Craig

I have the small version of this charcoal grill. It fits just about any place in the stream or truck.
Here is a utube video of the large one. Small is perfect for 2 people.

charcoal
well, if you want charcoal, and you are not cooking for a 'softball team'
I suggest the Lodge L410 Sportsman charcoal grill.
Its small easy to pack, we keep it in the rear storage. Line it aluminum foil and just roll up the aluminum with the charcoal ashes and throw them away. Grill stays clean and it doesn't stink while storing.
Best purchase I had made in a long time. Its like $89 - 90 bucks,
I like charcoal grills.
Have a good one,

gas grill
This is my favorite gas grill. It fits in the closet and self stores the gas canister. Let me know if you need measurements.

Weber Go Anywhere Gas LP grill will slide in very nicely if you have the storage under the queen bed.

Small gas grill
You might look at the O-500,O-600 or O-900 grills. Love mine and all of them will fit your units storage area. They can be modified to run off you rigs gas quick disconnect very easily. Bought my fittings at lowes.

We use the Volcano Grill, www.volcanogrills.com, as it burns wood, briquettes and propane. It collapses to less than 8" and fits nicely in the rear compartment. Great for Dutch Oven cooking, too! It can use either the 1# bottles, with an adaptor, or the A/S tanks, with the included hose, for fuel. It also has a number of accessories which can be very useful.

I have a Weber Q that I have had for a long time and it works just fine. I also wanted a grill I could use with charcoal so I bought a Volcano Grill. It is really awesome. You can use it with the propane burner or with wood or charcoal. I have a Lodge 14" wok that works perfectly with the gas burner. The Volcano is a very versatile camp stove/grill. The only drawback is it isn't designed to cook for more than 4 people.
