Favorite Dishes When Full-Timing?

Looking at light weight dishes as we are heading out for F/T RV Life in late June. We are eco friendly and want something that is reusable, not full of chemicals and light weight.

Any suggestions?

Anything made of plastic is full of chemicals because that is what plastic is. Plastic is killing the planet.

We use Corelle dinner plates and bowls. They are not that heavy. You can buy them on Amazon, at Walmart... lots of sizes

We also carry Chinet dinner size plates for when we don't want to wash too much...

Thank you ~ could not agree more. I ran across some wheat/straw plates on Amazon and also did some reading on Melamine. Going to go with the Corel!!

I just use a thin bone china set from Bed Bath Beyond (I can’t recall the specific brand and haven’t had any issues with it since 2012.

I use the Corelle. Picked up a handful of utensils at Goodwill. I get small handmade dishes around the country at handicraft/art/pottery stores. Makes for a nice trip memory. Use them for sauces, butter, etc.

We don’t use plastic either. In addition to Corelle, we use small glass drinking glasses, Fiestaware mugs and carry them in something like this:https://www.amazon.com/China-Cup-Sto...29948140&psc=1

I have had a set of Corelle for RV’ing since 2002, still have every piece, nothing has ever broken.

I use plain paper plates when I can, tho, particularly since widow life, also these small French fry boats I purchase at a restaurant supply place.

Fewer dishes is a good thing.

I have some mix and match Corelle left over from the Previous RV.
Now that I sit around thinking of new stuff to get, I just bought some new Corelle. I was shocked that it did not claim to be unbreakable! It's actually made from a triple laminated glass!!
However, I generally don't throw dishes around, and it's microwave safe, so I got some new matching pieces.
BTW, Corelle used to be part of Corning glass, but is now it's own company. I didn't see the need for a set, because the tiny cups are worthless (IMO). You can buy open stock dishes and bowls from E-Bay or direct from Corelle, and oddly, the price from Corelle was better. (Because of shipping)
WalMart carries Corelle, as well as Target, but they only have limited styles.

I gave the cups & saucers, also the small bowls that came with the set, to Goodwill very early on, and bought some open stock soup/cereal bowls to replace them.

We use Amazon Basic plates and bowls & they’ve been great. Added some of the felt dish separators from Container Store and that has prevented breakage. The dish ware makes our meals seem more enjoyable and we’ve been able to only occasionally use paper.

Corelle is great.... the only downside I have found is that if you have really hot off the grill food, or hot soup/chili the heat comes right through to your hands holding the plate! So a hot pad is useful sometimes!

For "company" and special times, white porcelain or these fun melamine dishes.

I use beautiful, durable, lightweight melamine dishes full time, whether I'm dry camping or have full hook-up. I do not use paper or plastic utensils because after being used once, it all gets stuffed into bags and then dumped in landfills.

Full time = your favorite dishes.

For us, that would be china. We used it a while when we first started, but our trips are more functional with disposable paper, so we repurposed a set of Corelle from the boat we sold. The china went back into the house.

But you are not us. So, go with your "favorite" set for special and a "make do" set that is easy to wash for daily duty. A padded and fitted box can protect all and bone china is rugged stuff, if that is your taste. Better to use and replace a few broken pieces than to never enjoy something that gives you pleasure.

Replacements.com is a source and can offer some entertainment value for window shopping.

Second vote for Falcon Enamelware. In addition to being lightweight and indestructible, they have interesting color combinations.
