Favorite AS stovetop tea kettle

I’m trying to decide what kettle to use on our Sport 22 FB stove for boiling water for pour over coffee, tea, etc. Anyone have a favorite? I’m a newbie trying to get kitchen basics before we travel to Albuquerque to pick up our new AS and I have no idea what to expect from that stove. Something that would hold the heat for a little while would be nice.

I use a goose neck kettle with built in thermometer (eg 185 °F).

Welcome Aboard!! 👍

OXO

We can also slo-pour, turn the burner all the way down, set just the very edge of the Chemex over the flame, stays hot 'til gone....'bout 1/2 hr. 😂

The Cuisinart stainless steel electric kettle. Worth every penny. I like it because it is very fast to temperature, you can select different temps, like 200 degrees for coffee, and holds the water warm for several hours.
Of course I have a regular percolator for boondocking, but this is my go-to with hookups.

I just bought a new tea kettle - anything I buy for the AS has to be lightweight and this fit the bill.

For storage considerations we chose this:

https://www.amazon.com/Better-Housew.../dp/B008IA4NYI

Well, actually we have an un-colored version which lets you see the water level, but apparently not currently available.

For space considerations, we have the ‘clear’ color version of this:

I found this when I searched “12 volt” in Amazon. Many others to choose from:

I borrowed my daughter's electric tea kettle once. It heated water much faster than the stainless one I use on the stove. I use a Melita pour over system for coffee. I believe hers was a Hamilton Beach. Farberware also makes one. Check the local Walmart.

Also, welcome to the Airstream family

Yes! The Hario Tea Kettle is awesome! I have both the electric model, (for home), and the stove-top model in the Airstream.

There are many knock-offs available, but this kettle is really durable, and that's important with all the bouncing around it takes on the road.

Simple, basic stainless steel teakettle that whistles when it's boiling. Brand is "Who knows", but its nice and shiny to match the interior of the Airstream...

I have one of these: https://www.acehardware.com/departme...tea-pots/61792

It's a small lightweight kettle with a monster whistle - I can hear it outside. You can pick these up at ace hardware stores and other places - usually in the $15 range.

There used to be a recommendation to use what you got until you have time to use your gear in the new environment and identify pieces that need to be an investment to improve your camping adventure. Always thought it made sense. So that is how we started.

https://www.target.com/p/circulon-1-...d/-/A-15257241

We picked up one of these for a boat. It got moved to the AS and is still there. Generally, the coffee pot gets used and used. The tea pot, not so much. So the one on Glimmer is still this type of kettle. Packs away in the sink when we travel and is always available for duty. Just does not get much. Pat

I love my Revere Ware kettle for car camping, and it will make the transition to the new trailer. But good luck finding a new one, I don’t think they make them anymore. If you find one, let me know, I am looking for a backup.

Yes, agree. I use it on propane OR on the great (and very inexpensive) Nu-Wave induction burner when on full hookups. The induction burner makes every pot and pan dual fuel, and often, dual purpose. I don't need a crock pot, because I can program the induction burner to.make any big pot behave like one. Heck I can improvise a chafing dish.

Favorite AS stovetop tea kettle

Hm. Didn’t realize a sort of ordinary pot would work on an induction system.

Somewhere in our collection we have an all copper version of the classic Revere ware teakettle. DW will not risk taking it camping. It’s that precious. And right, they don’t make them anymore in the US or China that I have found.
47 years of marriage and we still have and use the Revere Ware pots and pans we bought in “early marriage” days before the kids took over our lives...one left to launch to empty the nest...
