Is that really true or just a whole lot a 'ducted air' ...?

its nothing more than a reflection of life being good, and that we're not taking ourselves too serious. So lighten up, buy yourself a pair at Home Depot, and kick back and be grateful that you have an AS. Jon

Doubt that it's true, but who cares? How exactly can you misuse an image of a flamingo? It's not like any of us would burn one in effigy or anything!

According to the current language of the Florida Flamingo Preservation Bill, the display of two plastic or neon flamingos will be subject to a penalty of not less than 250, nor more than 500 dollars. A second infraction occurring within one year of the first display will result in incarceration for not less than 30, nor more than 90 days in the county lockup in which the infraction occurred.

PF rights advocates in FLorida are creating watch groups to monitor and report any inappropriate displays of the revered fowl.

If you give me a link to a government web site describing this "Bill", then 'll waste my time saying how silly it is. I think you need to be a little more subtle to suck many people in.

I am reminded of an incident that made the news in Raleigh, NC back in July or August 2013. About 200 plastic flamingos on the lawn of the state legislature, in protest over a bill concerning voter ID, which opponents said would make North Carolina's voter ID laws more like the ones in Florida.

Pink Flamingos represent riches and wealth after the great depression to the Pop Culture

Here on the left coast it's especially prevalent amongst the vintage TT crowd of all types & stripes, & fits in with their penchant for decorating their campsites at the vintage rallies in the period stuff that overloaded the typical 1950s or `60's station wagons on vacation! ... yes, we're guilty!

.... oh - & then they have judging or visitor voting on best or most popular campsite/trailer & costumes! All in fun!

My wife got into decorating the yard/garden with pink flamingos after a visit to Austin when she saw some nursery place with 100's of pinkies all around the edge of their corner lot! So I blame it on you Texans, who keep trying to push it off on us in CA & FL - just to divert the attention away from your state bird .... at least in the state capitol!!

She got quite upset as first one, then a second, then a third was stolen by somebody - we're next to a high school & a local college is down the street with impromptu (non-official) frat & sorority houses in rented homes up the streets from us - so take your pick of the culprits!!

I'm still waiting for them to return them on the front porch with a map or note attached as to where they've traveled all these years while missing, like the garden gnome capers!!

This last May at the big Pismo vintage rally, an AS couple down the way from us notorious for flamingos had a huge pair of apparently fornicating air-blow PFs - you know, like those wavy arm guys at the blue suede shoe used car dealers! - in front of their trailer for 4 days!

Who knows how many of the little pink buggers they made that long weekend!

Well ..... at least their little pink plastic poops aren't goopy & hard to pick up, & they hardly smell at all!

Of course I'm not without guilt! Back in the 1980's I led the design team for what is now known as the Hyatt Hotel Orange County near Disneyland (originally a Princess Cruises Hotel), but actually located across Harbor Blvd. at Chapman Ave. in Garden Grove (not Anaheim), ...

.... & that's where our world renown Landscape Architects came up with several 16' tall PFs in & around the fountain in front of the hotel's atrium entry porte cochere - yes sixteen feet tall!! - as a nod to SoCal kitsch!

Imagine the size of their plastic poops!

So eventually Hyatt took them out ....
..... but not before busloads of tourists coming there, parking the bus in the entry drive, 70-90 tourists coming off the bus, lining up with their Brownies & more modern photo gear & click-click .... then back on the bus & off to the next tour bus stop over!

You can actually see them in an Asian gangland gunfight scene in a really bad B or C movie of the 1980's called "Steel Justice" I think!

That one is a real true PF story , & the landscape Architect who proposed them actually correctly predicted the tourists would be taking the pix!!

And with that, I'm going to contact the ACLU as soon as I get done here & complain about Florida & the PF Huggers infringing on our intrinsic frights to free speech & expression with the restriction of pink flamingos!!!!

After all .... I read it on the internet, so it must be true!

That does it!!!! I'm reporting myself!!!

Consumption of PF with ketchup will result in lifetime expulsion from the state of Florida.

On the other hand, if you attempt to apply ketchup to a Florida house cat, your dismememberment will be reported on the 6 o'clock news.

Friends gave us two cartons of Pink Flamingos, giving us four to work with. For what, I did not know. But... would stick their wire legs into the concrete dirt, along a turn and towards our Boondocking site when friends were coming along later and needed to recognize the turn.

The second trip using them in Moffatt County, Colorado in Irish Canyon I marked the turn off with one Flamingo. An hour later... it "flew off". Replaced it and later that day... another "flew off". And this had to be fifty feet off the county gravel road!

So, I took a magic market and marked "Do Not Steal". It worked. Both are now in the wife's garden where they belong. It seems to keep the deer away for some reason. Do I want any more? Not unless people begin to steal colored balloons some use to mark turns into a camping spot. Have not found myself getting past just stacking up some rocks next to the turn off... cheaper and nobody has room for "stolen rocks" written on a slab of sandstone. ... or do they? Might have to give that a try just for some amusement.

Not exactly certain - but here in Canada I don't think Pink Flamingos are allowed ..... pretty sure it's a criminal charge under the Migratory Birds Invasive Species Act ..... and to display one on your campsite is just plain inviting a breathalyzer ..... or maybe another drink .....

Who can name the character that said that?

Pink owner and proud

We got a pinky because my wife is nearly blind. All the RV's looked all the same to her but a 'Pink one' at the site entrance told her to check out the site. We also live in Florida!
