Smile Use of Mattress Toppers?

New 19 CB Caravel coming soon. Interested in thoughts/recommendations on use and/or purchase of toppers for master bed (full) or dinette (twin). We’re excited!

We purchased our 3” memory foam from BB&B. We chose the Therapedic deluxe quilted 3”. We also purchased a 2” custom shaped for our top bunk from Airstream supply. The one from Airstream supply seems to be good quality though did not come with a quilted cover...foam only.
We’ve had our Therapedic 3” for the past 4 yrs in our homes spare bedroom and everyone raves about it. We used that same topper in our Airstream for 3 months and loved it. It must soften a little after use because our new topper we just purchased for our one month old 30Bunk seems a little firm. When we had our 25FB, our 8 yr old was complaining about the discomfort laying on the dinette cushions. ...about a week into a 2 month trip. We ended up purchasing a twin therapedic 3” to cover the dinette...Huge difference!
Our original topper is used for the spare bedroom when not traveling, so we chose not to trim it. To trim the new topper...I laid it on top of our existing AS mattress and used a fine tip sharpie to mark a trim line. You can use a pair of quality scissors or an electric bread knife to trim to size...just the excess cover under the mattress. ***wait 3 or 4 days for the mattress to completely expand. Our full size topper for the lower bunk took about 1.5 weeks to fully expand, it only took the others two or three days. I think the Full was in the box too long. I didn’t want to hassle with the return, so I had the kids walk on it every day for a week to bring it back to life.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

We have used mattress toppers on our Airstream beds from the very beginning (15 years ago). We have 2,200 nights of Airstream camping and would not be without a mattress topper.

Costco, so far

We made our own for the twin beds using a single Costco 3 or 4" King Bed topper, by laying the mattresses on top of the expanded memory foam and outlining/cutting to fit. So far works just fine, and DW approved. I was OK with the stock mattresses.

Biggest improvement for me was expanding the size of the mattress platforms to fully support the outer edges of the mattresses.

Sure, same concept as pjshier. We used a single, I think it was a king sized, 3", mem. foam that we traced and cut to fit.

cutting foam

I learned from an upholsterer that a homeowner can achieve acceptable results cutting thick foam by using an electric carving knife if you have one around. Worked well for us.

We had custom mattresses made for our FB twin. A little hard for the mrs. but I was OK with the firmer feel. A 2" memory foam topper was the ticket for her and as I've been nursing a bum hip, I put one on my side as well. Best sleep I've had in years!

That Therapedic looks like a good one but it looks like it is sewn into a cover, is it trimmable?
