Starting Over Again!
Hey folks!
It's been a few years since I last visited here. I still have an unrestored '57 Overlander who deserves a better home, as I lost the friend who was going to help me with the project. Since that time, I separated, then divorced from my husband. I went back to college to learn a new vocation and graduated last May. The pay here is ridiculously low however, and I'm not interested in wasting my life commuting on a dangerous road to make a better salary. So I've come to the conclusion that I need to sell my house and move. I want to move to the Rockies!!
I am interested in Az, Nm, Co and Wy... And I have to make a decision soon. My "problem" is that I have a lot of animals and I'm not sure I can get- or afford rent, and buying a house is a big risk when I haven't lived out there yet.... So the idea of living in a travel trailer for a while has re-entered my mind!! I can try to find work and find places that I like, and I can pack up and move if I have to!! If I ever find where I want to be, I can still take the trailer out camping- or to the wonderful Resto Rally in Albuequerque...
Anyway, I just wanted to say "hey" and check in

Welcome back! Sounds like you are making some good plans. If you live in your Airstream I know you will save on having to sink money into brick and mortar. The housing market here in Colorado is fiercely expensive right now. Good luck and please keep us all posted on what you decide to do.

Some familiar faces and some new ones I look forward to hopefully going full-stream by Fall! It's been a dream and why not? I hope I can pull it off.
Thanks for the support.

You have a lot on your plate.
Think things thru, take them slowly, and good luck.

There are a number of us here who have started over, either by choice or circumstance, and we're here to tell ya it can be done successfully.
Baby steps sound good.

The Denver area is booming and so are housing costs. The CG's around Denver are either expensive, or slightly less so and undesirable. Santa Fe is nice, but also expensive and NM salaries may not be so good. With oil, gas and coal all down in price, Wyo. is suffering. Arizona is a place I prefer to stay away from, but you may differ. On the western slope of Colorado, housing is much cheaper but salaries are 80% of Denver.
It seems best to pick a place you feel good in and then see if housing and jobs meet your needs. You are mobile enough to check out several places so long as the money holds out.
Are you snow adverse? They just had a foot in Denver last weekend, though it melted fast. We are accustomed to winter (actually there's less of it where we are compared to Denver), but as a resident of Fla., it may be a shock. NM can have big winter, but mostly drought these past several years. Santa Fe is cooler than hot Albuquerque and very busy, but prettier too.
Starting out anew is always daunting, but you already have skills you didn't have the first time(s) you started out. Good luck with your version 2.0 (or 3, or 4…).

still working on this
Might have to rethink for the time being.. I have two old dogs and I have a "gut feeling" that I should stay close to my favorite (and wonderful friend) veterinarian. I still have to get out of my present beautiful house, and downsize to a much simpler life, but what better way to transition into what will eventually be a mobile plan?!
I have a lot to do in the next couple of months, but the Plan is to look ahead and not too much behind- only to learn from the past and not dwell in it.
Step one will be what I can afford and where that will be located... Then we will start looking into what may come next. I am not gone yet!!

Rae, sounds like a good approach. You may change your mind several more times as you figure out what to do next, and then next, and so on. Life is a never ending learning experience.

RAE!!!!
What’s up??? I have wondered from time to time how things are with you. What path to the west did you take? Trailer update? We think often about the A/S you purchased w/o title here in Florida. We have not been to Can Opener in years.
Roxy, the handicap chocolate lab we had, has obviously passed. Now we are a three dog night kinda Airstream’n couple. Two black labs and a chihuahua. Airstream is full! Hope all is well. Follow along on our journey with our ‘48 Liner. The link is in my signature below.
Take care. Hope to see you again!
