Sliced Head Open on Window

Yep, That's a recurring problem for me. The visor of my hats seem to block my view of the visible edge. I use red shop rags pushed into all the window latches and edges of awning supports.

The inside of a FC is also a scab farm.

If you're about 6 ft. tall, the sharp edges of the overhead cabinets will slice you time after time. I finally installed lengths of 1/2" wide self-adhesive weather stripping on the edges. Wasn't beautiful, but neither were the previous scabs.

I use the swimming noodles cut into sections to alert the eye that there is a window nearby. i use those when I will be closing the windows before bedtime. If I want to keep the windows open (and might need to close them in the middle of the night) I use one inch circular magnets

I glued a bright ribbon to one of the magnets and then place the magnet that has the ribbon on the outside of the window and the other magnet on the inside. That way I can close the windows quickly and lock them. Storage is easy.

Glad you are ok. I never knew they were that sharp..noodles sound good...lots of uses for them.

Sliced top of my head open on front window and it really bled out! I was wearing a ball cap when I did it...prevented me seeing it as I turned the corner...lesson learned for sure...the noodle idea seems like best solution...side windows not so much a problem, but the front window...watch out; we do a lot of stuff up front! (oh, carry butterfly type band-aids just in case.)

Just got our AS last year and we keep it parked on the driveway next to the grass which needs to be mowed once in a while. Least that is what the dear wife reminds me of. Well, had the side window opened and passed by it on the first pass with acknowledgement of it being there. Not so on the return pass. BANG. Fortunately I was wearing a hat or I probably would have gotten cut. Sorry you had to suffer so to learn a lesson that way. Good camping to ya.

Part of the answer is to round off the bottom edge of the window as shown on my 2017 16' Sport. I just rounded the 90 degree edge with tin snips, filed and added a layer of black paint. The other window is the 'escape window' which I did not modify. See photo:

Probably 30 years ago we cut 3-4” segments of rubber hose lengthwise. These can be slipped over the edges of the window overlapping the sharp corners. And a bonus: they can be stored in the window ledge between the closed window and the screen ready for use when the window is opened. Has worked on our ‘69 FC-no lacerations.

The AS windows, (not the same on the sport models) on the larger AS's have solid farmless glass with rounded edges/corners..problem is the edges are still sharp when meeting up with the top of the "head"...and the head is very susceptible to cuts and bleeding up there on top...not much skin.

Had the window fully extended when I ran around to check something on the drivers side. 17 staples stitched the top of my head back together. Could not believe all the blood.

Now, I have a fear of opening any window more than a crack.

yep, I have done that, 20 stitches and more blood than you can shake a stick at! I was turning on the black flush and walked around to peer in the back window to look at the gauge and BAM! it wasn't the nice rounded edge of glass but the metal window latch.
