Shooting Sports

Just curious as to how many of you go to a range when you're on the road? Also, what you carry and how often you shoot.
You can also check out my choices as well as list of ranges on my blog.

Usury Mountain Park, Mesa, AZ

As we spend the winter months in our Airstream here in Mesa, we have discovered the shooting range at Usury Mountain Park, Mesa, AZ.

I like to shoot trap, skeet and sporting clays.
Unfortunately, since we travel to Mexico, we have not carried shotguns in the Airstream for a couple of years.
Next year we will leave the trailer in Tucson and a couple of shotguns inside. There used to be a good range on the road to Ajo. Does anyone know if it is still there?
I will carry my Mathews bow also. There is a good archery range at the PSE factory on Fairview road in Tucson.

Gilbert Ray County Park...

Southwest of Tucson has very nice range facilities and a wonderful RV park.

Linda and I love to visit Sporting Clays courses where ever we go. I shoot a 12 ga. Beretta Gold E-30 inch, and she shoots a 20 ga. Benelli Executive, beautifully engraved and gilded. We use the ClaysTargetsOnline website to find spots: Find a Gun Club to shoot Skeet, Trap, Five Stand and Sporting Clays

Not much for choice around here, but we'd love to hear where other folks go on the road. I am at the department range several times per month ... can one ever get in enought practice!

Cecil B Webb shooting range, Punta Gorda, FL?

Has anybody shot at Cecil Webb?

http://myfwc.com/media/1369627/CecilWebb_brochure.pdf

Reason I ask is that we are thinking about subletting a space at Paradise Park ( Paradise Park Condominium Association Welcomes You To PPCA.US! ) for a couple of months next winter and I am looking for a nearby place to shoot. It turns out Paradise Park is about 2 miles from the northeast corner of the Cecil B. Webb Wildlife Management Area, which contains, lo and behold, the Cecil B. Webb Public Shooting Range!

It's not quite that easy since the Wildlife Management Area looks to be about 12 x 15 miles and the entrance to the range is near the southwest corner, so it might be a 20-30 drive around the WMA to get to the range. (But at Paradise Park it's 20 miles to the nearest grocery store, so 30 miles is not unreasonable.)

Right now I am on a big bore revolver kick so I will probably spend time on the pistol ranges, but with the availability of a 200 yard range I will have to take the varmint rifle and see what kind of groups I can get. (Already thinking about how to bring along some reloading equipment!)

You'll see lots of Airstreams at the the Linn Creek, MO, range of the MIssouri Trap Shooters Association. Anyone who loves to shoot trap and loves to Airstream ought to hightail it to the Missouri Ozarks. Here's the website: Missouri Trap Shooters Association

When in the DFW area I carry a variety of guages to shoot with a buddy just west of Fort Worth at the Ft Worth Gun Club. The club has well maintained skeet and trap fields and while is a private club it's open to visitors as well.

I am scheduled to shoot 4 Glock Sports Shooting Foundation (GSSF) matches this year. I plan on taking the Bambi II to 3 of them.

People from around here usually go up to the nicest facility around here, the Whittington Center:

NRA Whittington Center - Home

I hear they have a decent campground on site, though I've not looked at it personally.

As Lynn reports, Whittington Center does have a decent RV park for shooters just minutes away from the various ranges. The NM Unit has enjoyed a couple rallies there.
The "austere" RV park has hook-ups but few other amenities, so I would only recommend it as a destination for folks who want to use the Center's extensive range facilities.
When you rally there, you do have the use of a nice clubhouse.

Hubby does sporting clays. We both plink and do basic range shooting. We are new to Washington State and are still getting our bearings as to ranges, etc. heck, we're just thawing out...LOL

You picked a really nice place to settle in Bothell. Lived in Kent and Federal Way for a time long ago and remember it fondly. Hope it hasnt changed too much. Try not to let life get in the way of living
