Saying good bye...

Hello my Airstream friends,

Next Wednesday, our five year old Airstream is going to be picked up by a young family with a one year old who will be touring North America for a year together. I could not dream up a more wonderful family for our trailer to be passed on to.

And so will end our wonderful time with the only Airstream we have ever owned.
I don't know if we will ever own an RV again as beautiful as an Airstream. Because so far I have seen precious few RVs that are as beautiful!

But the way we like to travel is to turn down the small roads and explore along the way between destinations. And to camp in small campgrounds. And towing a 25' trailer doesn't match up with these desires as easily as a 25' Class C motorhome.

So, after researching for a couple of years, and renting an identical unit, we ordered a Sprinter-based motorhome (not an Airstream) and will take delivery in the next few months.

I wanted to express a hearty "Thank you!" to each of you who have contributed to this Forum. To the moderators and all of you posters! I have learned so much about Airstreaming, towing, and RVing from you. You have made the experiences so much safer, more comfortable, and more fun.

May you enjoy your beautiful Airstreams for decades to come. I will look wistfully upon your trailers for all time!

In gratitude,
Chris

I wish you well, but in my best "Arnold" voice predict, "You'll be back!" A 16 or 19 footer... perhaps?
Happy Trails!

Ha! Love it! Indeed perhaps one day I will be back! Maybe I’ll even have Arnold’s ripped bod by then!

Thanks for your well wishes. Maybe I’ll see ya on the road!

I get it Meeks. Sometimes I wonder if a sprinter base RV would work better for us travelers too. It is scary driving down an unknown tiny road with a 50’ rig. I’ve gotten into, and out of, many tight spots. Sometimes backing out for long distances.

Enjoy your new freedom to explore in a 25’ rig.

Yeah, pros and cons to all rigs, that’s for sure. I like what someone here once wrote... Most of us want to drive a small van to the campsite and then have it magically transform into a 30’ Airstream!

moosetags, rmkrum, SteveSueMac, westcoastas, AirMiles, Foiled Again, rowiebowie, and others.........

Thank you all for your well-wishes. Though I have never met any of you in-person, I feel that I have come to know you a bit through all of your wonderful posts on this forum.

In this time of especially strong opinions that fly about so quickly on the internet, folks like you remind me of the goodness of sharing knowledge as well as some laughs. Thank you for that.

I hope to be allowed to still poke my head into AirForums once in a while to get my Airstream fix!

Chris

There is absolutely no rule on the forums preventing you from continuing to participate. In fact, participation is encouraged. Stay with the fun and knowledge that is more than just Airstream-centric!
