Renting an Airstream

We want to try renting an Airstream before we buy but it is hard to find one were we are on the mid-Gulf Coast of Florida. We do not have a tow vehicle. Any ideas? We are truly newbies -- have never even camped before but love Airstreams and this community.

Welcome to AirForums. Finding an Airstream to rent in Florida, or anywhere, is going to be a challenge. I would suggest going to your local dealers (RVone in Tampa and North Trail in Fort Myers) and spend some time in each model. Ask if they have any used ones available. Figure out which model you would want and try to find a slightly used one at a big discount, like 30% to 40% below MSRP at the time it was built. Then if you decide that you don't like the model you purchased, or you just don't use it, you can resell it without losing that first year or two's depreciation.

We bought a used Casita and found out we loved traveling with a travel trailer. We were able to flip the Casita without losing any money when we decided to buy a larger Airstream. Casita's can be pulled by many vehicles. We didn't need to buy a different tow vehicle for the Casita. You may be able to do the same thing with a small Airstream.

Good Luck and welcome to the Forum.

The Airstream Dealer in LA rents the unit and tow vehicle out. Will apply your rental costs towards the purchase of a new unit if you decide to buy.

As airmiles said above, start with your local dealers. They will have the best ideas for your situation.

You might try Outdoorsy https://www.outdoorsy.com/

We recently followed an 2019 Airstream Bambi 16 into Pedernales State Park (just west of Austin, Tx.). At the park office, we talked with the owner who said we was delivering his Bambi to a renter for the weekend. He rents his Bambi out via Outdorsy. For an extra fee he will deliver it, set it up at the camp site and pick it up at the end of the rental. Now that is carefree AS camping

p.s. as an example - here is his listing

Haydocy RV in Columbus, Ohio rents out Airstreams and the tow vehicle, but it may cost you.

Bay Area Airstream (CA) rents AS's with a TV. Not highly advertised and I suspect more of a try before you buy type program. Wrong side of the country for you, but point being, as mentioned in post above, check with large dealers in FL, someone likely has similar program to possible buyers.
