Quality
Is it me or has Airstream quality gone downhill?
We wanted a 23FBT Globetrotter but since Airstream eliminated the 23 Globetrotter we decided to look at an International. We currently have a 2016 International Serenity 25RBQ for sale and wanted to downsize and upgrade.
Here’s what we saw:
1) the pull put pantry rubbed on the bathroom door and got stuck on the frame around the window on the bathroom door
2) the stabilizer jacks hung out too far in the back
3) there is no duct in the bathroom for the heat pumps/ac. You have to use your furnace to get heat back there and maybe a small desktop fan to stay cool when it’s warm outside.
4) the dinette cushion backs rubbed on the window latches and will probably wear the fabric over time.
5) the box around the wheel wells is exposed so as soon as you walk through the door it’s the first thing you see
6) they no longer use extruded aluminum as trim around the upper cabinets. Instead they use a cheap piece of rubber/plastic that shrinks when it gets cold so there are gaps in the corners. Poor workmanship
Maybe it’s just me but if I was sitting in my 100+ RV and had to see the trim around the cabinets I’d be sick to my stomach.
We’ve had 3 Airstreams and a boatload of other brands prior to that and the Airstreams have had far less issues, but they weren’t without any. It’s just that if we noticed those few items in the 30 minutes we were in the Airstream how many others are sitting there for us to find on a trip?
We will sell our 2016 International Serenity and may sit on the proceeds for a while.
