Portable Ladders

I've searched the forum and seen several of your favorite ladder threads. I also saw the colonial airstream video where Ray Romono said to use a 12' standard ladder if you want to get on the roof.

I thought it might be useful just to poll the forum again to see what the portable market has to offer if you want to actually get up on the roof as opposed to just being able to reach it. I had a 12' collapsable ladder before, but the guy who bought my old trailer really, really wanted it so I gave it to him to close the deal.

I know getting on the roof is not something you need to do all the time. Although I used to put my Pathway X2 antenna up there to get above some of the ground clutter. Would also like to be able to get up to blow debris off my awning before I pull it in .

I have a “Jaws” ladder made by Featherlite. Starts folded at 4’ then opens to an a-frame at 7’ tall, then to an extension ladder at 14’. Super light and fits in the back of the Honda Civic.

There are many similar products out there. Last time I saw one similar was at Costco.

This compliments my other larger folding ladders which are much heavier.

We lost the TV antenna raising gear at the beginning of a trip last year, so I invested in a telescoping ladder just to make the trip more enjoyable. I've used this ladder more than any around the house, and it's quite handy to have in the back of the truck for long trips, too. I got this one at Camping World for convenience, but would have been better served via Amazon if time and money wasn't an issue. I pad the ladder with a piece of pool noodle wherever it may touch the trailer and despite what the package said, it's only 10'+ tall, but still plenty tall enough to reach anything on the roof. Good day!

I've had this ladder for the last two years. It has been great.

Reasons it's good for me:
1. tall enough for getting up top the trailer
2. strong
3. locking sections are secure
4. fits well in the truck bed (vertically strapped to the cargo rail)

Best!

this one says unavailable, but it's similar to the one I had from Amazon. Do you use it just to be able to reach on the roof, or can you actually get up on the roof?

Both.

I use the ladder to reach the top and clean with a long-handled wash mitt.

I use the ladder to get on top the trailer. I don't do this without someone holding the bottom of the ladder.

Best!
