Today is the anniversary of bringing our Airstream home! What a life changer it has been for us! We never imagined that we would have so much fun pulling a little trailer.
Our friends and family laughed...they thought we'd lost our minds. We'd been tent camping a total of twice when our kids were little. We had no experience whatsoever pulling a trailer. But, it had been something we'd always talked about doing. Touring the national parks in an Airstream was a dream. We loved road trips, we loved hiking and being outdoors and I loved taking pictures.
Buying a trailer was something we planned on doing when we retired - someday
. But that someday was still a long way away and we decided that life was just too short to wait for someday
It was a whirlwind month learning everything we could about tow vehicles and towing. We didn't even look at any other type of trailer. We just knew we wanted an Airstream. We'd always thought they were neat, and then suddenly a dealership opened up just down the road. That was it for us!
Thank goodness for Airstream Forums and all the friendly and helpful people here...we were on 24/7 reading and learning from all of your experience. We were so naive, that our first post here was, "Do you have to have a brake controller?" Embarrassing now
We've taken our Bambi out on average twice a month - even in the rain and snow. We traveled a grand total of 4052 happy miles. We've never ventured far from home but we've seen some amazing sights, have had some beautiful mini adventures and we've met lots of great people.
Hoping for many more wonderful years making memories in our little Airstream!
