I was told the "D" stood for dinette like in the 25 & 27FB models. We really like that floor plan and tow our 2015 23D International Serenity with a 2007 Mercedes ML320 CDI V6 diesel.

We like the floor plan as well. We got the bunk version as well. I have 4 kids, so with this floor plan we can easily sleep 6. 3 girls and a boy, so the boy gets the bunk. The sisters all get along, so sharing one of the others should be fine.

You give up the full queen, but that was okay for us, wife and I don't mind forced touching while sleeping, lol.

I really liked the 25, but felt a little too much loaded with my TV. Maybe next time

Thx

Thank you. It's an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. For sale if you're interested.

It's way less expensive than an Airstream.

rlhendren, you are most probably familiar with Frank Lloyd Wright's house for his uncle Richard Lloyd Jones, also in Tulsa.

Yes! That is a very cool house for sure. But that's a LOT of windows to wash!

Not too far away in Bartlesville, OK, is the only "sky scraper" that Frank Lloyd Wright ever designed. The oil money in the early 1900's in Tulsa and surrounding areas resulted in some really cool old mansions and buildings. I was lucky enough to stumble upon my art deco house which was built by an engineer who invented the tubeless tire and manufactured the first parking meter. It was a diamond in the rough. After I finished the renovation, I thought to myself, "Why do I need so much stuff? I'd rather sell it all and full-time in an Airstream."

So that's the tentative plan. I need a few more years to save and to get my daughter off to college, and then, if all goes well, I think I'll just get rid of all of my really awesome belongings and start accumulating really awesome experiences and memories.

What is the function of the FB model? To me, it is like having the front door to your house open into a bedroom. Also small windows in the living area and large windows in the bedroom. Looking at a 23D for the above reasons.

The reason I like by FB is that it is a full queen bed. The designation on the 23D is for dinky as in small bed. My door is in the back between the bath and kitchen table.

Yes I have large windows in the bedroom area but we don't spend a lot of time in bed during daytime hours and the windows in the dining area are full size..

Yes, it depends on where you want the space. 23D has a larger dinette/sofa/"living area", but at the expense of a smaller bed and tiny bathroom. I got the 23D because I wanted a separate sleeping space for my daughter and her 2 dogs. With the dinette folded down into a bed in the 23D, there is tons and tons of sleeping room compared to the 23FB. However, the corner bed is very small for 2 people. Since it's just me, I don't mind the smaller corner bed. Also, the bathroom is a tight fit, which some people don't care for, but the smaller bathroom also doesn't bother me. The kitchen space is designed a little differently between the two models as well. Just look at pictures and you can tell that there is more counter space in the 23FB. When I camp, I generally cook outside the trailer, so the marginally smaller kitchen in the 23D is not an issue for me.

If you prefer a larger bed and larger bathroom, get the 23FB. If you prefer a larger dinette/lounging area, get the 23D.

I hadn't considered the difference in bed size. My wife and I are both under six feet and thin so bed size is not that important. Like the poster above, we wanted more living area for day time use.
That is why Airstream gives you a choice of models and floor plans.

Yep... like they say, "every pig to his own slop!"

So, for our "slop," we much prefer the 23D. We prefer two beds, and my little 'mod' that lets me convert the sofa to a 34" wide twin bed in just seconds works great, for us. Likewise the open seating of the larger lounge area is really a plus. The smaller area for the potty is a non-issue fou us... we're happy to have that space up front where we spend way more time. The floor plan choices are great... something for everybody.

Congratulations on your new AS and on the renovation of your beautiful home. We bought a multi family 4-plex with Art Deco finishes a few years back and absolutely love it. All the best with your future endeavors, travel and design.

Update after my first week-long trip.

So, I just got back from a week long trip in the 23D - my first real camping adventure since I purchased it. 7 days, 4 campgrounds. I thought I would update my experience after a week.

The trailer tows great. Relatively small size makes it easy to tow, easy to get into gas stations, grocery stores, campgrounds, etc. And it gets lots of compliments, both on the road and in the campgrounds.

The bathroom is definitely small. I'm 6'1 and it's nearly impossible to sit on the toilet AND shut the bathroom door. If you need privacy, this may be an issue for you. The shower is adequate size for me, but again, drying off is a challenge with the bathroom door closed.

The corner bed was plenty big enough for just me, though my feet ALMOST hang off the end of the bed. For two people, it will do, as long as neither person needs much room to sleep. I stay put in one spot all night long, so not an issue for me.

When the dinette is folded down into a bed, it makes a HUGE bed - much bigger than the actual bed. It's really nice having two sleeping areas.

Food prep area is limited, so it takes a bit of juggling to always have a work space while you're cooking (I kept the dinette down in the 'bed' position most of the time, or I could have used the dinette table).

Overall, it was extremely comfortable, relatively easy to use, etc. It was a very nice trip and no buyer's regret on my part.

We've found that it's the easiest to just open the bathroom door all the way against the bed and just pull the 'accordion door' across the opening as far as you wish for privacy. Plenty of room that way.

Yep, the rear 'corner bed' is the Queen's Chambers. She luxuriates there while I sleep on the pull-out lounge bed. Works great for us; lots of room for each of us and my [occasional!] snoring is mercifully removed from her delicate ears by several feet.

May I suggest that you either make or buy (from Airstream?) the flip-up shelf for the side of the countertop? Adds greatly to the usable meal prep area.

Glad to hear that you are yet another delighted 23D user...

I really like the floor plan of the 23D. I have a 20FC and bought it because of the size and the galley layout. A 23D would definitely be the other choice for me.
