New 2021 International 25RB

We are finally taking delivery on our new International 25RB this Saturday!!
Our first Airstream and our very excited.
Quick question for the seasoned RV buyers. The dealer of course is sending me the list of add on protection plans we can buy. Kinda like they do when you buy a car. They offer a 6 years bumper to bumper extended warranty, an exterior & interior protection plan, roadside assistance, etc, etc - all at a premium price add of course. My question is: Has anyone done this and is it worth it??
I always decline these things when buying a vehicle but I know a travel trailer is a different animal.
Thanks

Your new Airstream comes with a 3 year tongue to bumper warranty. I think that within that time frame you should be able to have confidence that everything will be taken care of then theoretically, it will just be maintenance.
Hopefully yours will be fine. The new interiors are beautiful.

As far as the extended warranty goes, your new trailer will already have 3 years of coverage. So with the extended plan you're buying 6 years but really only getting additional coverage for 3 years. To me, that's not at all worth the premium they'll charge you. That trailer should be well broken in after 3 years! I'd avoid any of the "protective coatings" and other protection plans they offer as well. They are designed to get more of your hard earned $$$ in to the dealer's bank account. I would recommend keeping the money and putting it towards something you will enjoy.

Those add-on items only serve one purpose; to separate you from your money.

I just answered this for someone else. An Airstream does not have a drivetrain or motor. There is nothing of value that will need coverage other than appliances. The last guy was offered a 4 year for $4,600. You can replace every appliance including your A/c unit for less than that! Your repairs will consist of tires, brakes, torn vinyl, dented aluminum, burst hose, etc... none of which would be covered anyway... Save your money!!!

Important point on warranty. It does not seem to cover leaks unless you have had the trailer inspected by a dealer on a schedule (I believe once every 6 months). I learned that “the hard way” when I found a leak at 18 months, contacted a dealer and was told it was “on me” at that point since I had not taken it in for periodic inspection.

Moral of the story: Get a written description of your responsibilities to keep the warranty active from your dealer as part of the delivery process.

Other than that, I second the sentiments above.

IMHO
NO

do your own inspection
fix as needed

or take the money that for that extra insurance and put it into a separate saving account
over time take that money out when you need to fix items
