A second thought. Check out the blog “LivingInBeauty” by Jim & Carmen Beaubeaux. They spent this past winter in Texas. Much to do from Galveston to Port Aransas, the Rio Grande Valley, Marfa, Alpine, Terlingua, Big Bend National and State Parks, Fort Davis State Park.

Hi

The claim made by various people (and I have no way to verify their numbers) is that you can do RV parks in Baja for < $30 a day all inclusive (meals, laundry, site fees, exploring ....).

Based on what I've seen when I've been down there, that *seems* a bit hard to believe. My guess is that I've stuck to places you can get by speaking English and they headed a lot further into the boonies.

Hello!
In December 2016, I took my little 16 ft sport south of the border in Baja, and I may do it again this December. A couple of things: Hwy1, the paved highway running north and south is narrow. For me, this was the scariest part of the drive because I felt my little trailer sway every time a semi passed going the other way. This highway had suffered damage, too, that was unmarked, so take it slow. There were times when I came upon chunks of road that sank or split due to a hurricane the previous season.
There is a wonderful fishing village called Bahia de los Angeles (on the Sea of Cortez side) I've been going to with a group of friends for about 20 years. Previous to bringing airstream, we rented a cabin or palapas on the beach. The time I pulled my trailer, I still camped with the group, but had my own sweet little airstream there, too.
On the return trip, we took the dirt road over to San Felipe (yes, I hauled my little trailer the 25 miles of dirt at 5 miles and hour, and the only "damage" from that was a cupboard door fell off its hinges).
We came through San Felipe on the return trip and stayed there a few days. There are a few RV parks that looked good, on the beach, and have monthly rates. I don't know the names of any, but you could probably google it.
Also, crossing the border back into US is quite a long, long wait. Make sure you fill up on gas because you may be in that line all day. Go early in am or late at night. There are many people trying to sell you stuff, and they are very persistent. I did get a beautiful embroidered bag for $5, so there's some good stuff for sale, too, mixed with the trinkets.
You might try googling the wine country of Baja. Some of the wineries south of Ensenada are really beautiful, with wonderfully landscaped grounds for picnicking, etc Perhaps someone has made an RV park at a winery by now.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Palm Creek RV Resort Casa Grande AZ, lots of Airstreams, lots of activities. Picacho State Park is close for staying, too.

Many RVers winter at the southern tip of Texas. In the McAllen-Harlingen-Brownsville area, there are over 100 RV parks. Great winter weather. Check it out.

Most state parks have a 14 day limit, and if you're staying all winter that may be more moving than you like.
I will say, plan NOW!

You can get around that limit by signing up as a Park Host. Most National Parks (and many state parks) have them to assist with after-hours guests and provide a space with utilities. Usually the park will have more than one Host so you should be able to sneak away at times and not be stuck all Winter. You might want to check out opportunities.

Try Texas Coast, specifically Wilderness Oaks in Rockport. 450 per month plus electric.

Winter. Last year we traveled all over the south from Florida to California and saw a lot of the country. We want to be more stationary this trip, but do want to mix it up a bit.

Staying one to two months at a time in one spot is perfect for us. Not opposed to boondocking for short stays, but probably would love the state parks and commercial campgrounds with hookups.

Our first choice is a stay in Palm Springs. We loved it the last time. We stayed at Coyote RV Park in Indio. Across the street from us were 4 vintage Airstreams for rent

We need some specifics. Park names, towns, and routes. My wife and I would love your help. We need to get booking soon and without a history of camping in the southwest, we are afraid to make choices that leave us there for a month with conditions we might not like.

We trust this community and would like your help!

I know there is a lot of threads similar to this. Just wanted to start a new one!

If you want to live really cheap, and don't care about stuff to do, Lee's RV Park in Groesbeck, TX is ugly, but dirt cheap!

Vintageracer did you really mean to suggest they go to Michigan for 5 months in the WINTER? Or was it just more fun to say go to Hell (Michigan) that is.

Not that a Michigan Winter isn't beautiful if you're going skiing or something like that.

You might want to consider Jekyll Island, Georgia. They have a nice campground, and I know lots of folks from up north spend winters there. If you've never been there, Jekyll is a beautiful state park with lots of history to explore, beautiful beaches, golf, and good restaurants. Brunswick (where I live) is the mainland, and there is a fair amount to do and good restaurants there, as well as St. Simons Island, which is less than a half hour drive. Jacksonville, Fla. is an hour to the south, and Savannah, Ga. is an hour up the road if you feel the need to go to a bigger city.

We love Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort in Casa Grande, AZ. Good value with all the amenities, close to Phoenix and Tuscon for outings. But with all these seasonal places, book early! We book a year in advance.

Sale at Chula Vista RV Resort

The Chula Vista RV Redort in San Diego has been having trouble filling spaces since they reopened (after announcing that the were closing last February). Its a really nice resort and one of my favorites. I just received an Email from them announcing a winter sale. If you book this Friday thru Sunday, you can book up to 3 months this winter at $995 per month. Google them for more info.

there are many campgrounds along the Pacific Coast Highway 1 from South to North California. Temps would hover around 60-70 in winter.

Look into the Escapees RV Club. They have a number of campgrounds, some Rainbow Parks (rentals only) and some Co-ops (rentals when owners are away).
