Mystery Dent

Has anyone else ever found new damage on their trailer that they can in no way explain?

I found this one about two weeks ago, and I can’t begin to guess how it happened. Click image for larger version

We brought our brand new 27 international home from the dealer (3 hours) and found two small dents by the door. Have no idea what happened.

Solved the mystery? What happened?

I was working on putting a new floor in a car trailer early this spring and I had painted the 2”x8”x14’ planks red. When I was moving the planks from the paint booth, I “bumped” the trailer “just a little”.

I guess I never actually stopped and looked at the spot where I bumped it a little harder than I thought.

It came back to me just as I posted the photo here. The red paint in the middle of the dent was the thought trigger.

It’s cool to be able to store my Airstream at work, but it isn’t without risk.

When I removed the “mystery dent” from my trailer, it amazed me just how soft the aluminum that Airstream uses is. My previous experience with body work with aluminum was on my Series II Land Rover. Much tougher stuff.
