Congrats !
I retired early back in 2017 after spending 34 years in uniform.
No regrets at all. I never have a shortage of things to keep me busy, with none of the stress, bs and politics that engulfed me at work the last few years of my career. I'm never bored, and find that I have more things to do, then I have time available to do them. Still keep a calendar to manage all 'my projects' now !
You're going to love it. Enjoy !

Dennis, congrats! Dive in, the water's fine. We too were fortunate and able to retire early in 2016. Me after 36 years with one large corporation and DW after 25 with same. The often heard phrase, I don't know how I ever had time to work, is so true. Pre retirement I was great at time management and planning ahead. Now I suck at both and proud if it. Seven Saturdays a week. What's not to like.

Wishing you all the best. I retired 4+ years ago at 58 and haven't regretted a thing! Taking an early-out is not for everyone, but if you have hobbies, activities, and friends your time will fill up faster than you can imagine. Having a strong relationship and common interests with a partner helps. Lots of non-profits would love to have your time and skills; if interested, dabble in a few before you decide what is most rewarding for you.
Oh, and enjoy your Airstream! We've put 30K+ miles on ours in the last 4 seasons and have 10K+ of travels planned for 2022 starting later this month!
Enjoy your freedom!

Retired 15 years from great job as a trial judge and spouse a university professor. 130K miles Airstreaming. Do not let yourself drift along after first 6 months or so after retirement; schedule low impact regular volunteerism such as Meals on Wheels delivery; earn new credential/skill such as CPR or ESL helper; become host parent for student; treasure hunt for new interests on long weekend RV trips….pet shows, cooking lessons, flea markets, amateur radio, rodeos, ad infinitude. Invite new people in your home for coffee. Make a planning calendar for long ahead. GO ON WBAC CARAVANS. We are 80 and planned 3 years ahead. Don’t dawdle in the waiting line for death.

Thanks for all of the advice!
I really enjoyed reading everyone's posts and all of the advice. I'm retiring early as well at the end of April, as I too am done with the corporate BS and politics which have only gotten worse over the years.
We will be selling our 2018 International Signature 23FB here shortly, and have a new 2022 30' GT on order. We've been pushed out until a mid-April delivery at this point, but that timing works well for us.
I'm picking the new Airstream up in DFW and driving back up to the Pacific Northwest were we spend part of our year. (we used to be full timers here, but WA is no longer a 0% income tax state, so we are back to being Texas residents with a 2nd home in WA).
We will be off on the true maiden voyage in late May with no return date. We expect to spend most of our time out in the Washington wine country and then in beautiful Idaho.
We look forward to seeing some of you out there.

I retired 4 years ago at age 61. I also felt like I might not be ready to be fully retired. But then I discovered that I excel at being retired!! Congratulations and best of luck!
