Model Selection Advice

I'm a newbie to Air Forums, but have found it very useful as we prepare to purchase our first Airstream.

We've narrowed it down to an International Serenity 27FB or a 30. I'd been leaning towards the 27FB, but the separate seating and dinette along with the additional storage of the 30' is very appealing.

I was afraid that the 30 might be too big until going on a fishing trip with a buddy this past week. He had a 38" SOB with 3 slide-outs, which made both of the models I've shortlisted look small in comparison. That said, checking out construction of my friends new SOB reaffirmed our intent to order an Airstream.

I've camped for many years, but this will be my first trailer. I'll be pulling with a 2015 GMC Denali 5.3L 1/2 ton with a ProPride Hitch, at least initially. I'm retired but Gina has a few years to go before hanging it up. I think we understand the feature differences, but would very much appreciate feedback from anyone about the length.

Not a fan of rear living rooms, dinette-only seating, and snug bathrooms I would chose the 30 if you plan to someday spend lots of time traveling in it. It's three feet longer, but the maneuverability in the campground will have more to do with truck wheelbase than trailer length.

You've got a great hitch in mind for comfortable towing in all conditions. Start towing with light loads in both the truck and Airstream until you get a feel for the combo and what it can do, your level of satisfaction. We have had three half-tons towing Airstreams and like them.
