Invention to stop door lever from locking you out
I've read that sometimes people have been locked out of their Airstream when the door is slammed when the lever slides over. We've always asked each other if we have keys before going outside (probably a good practice anyway).
I've invented a device that will stop the lever from moving over. The downside is you can't use that lock as long is this device is installed. It can be removed at any time. For us, we always lock the larger lock, not the smaller lock.
I'd like to find a couple of people, preferably full timers that I could send the device to in order to see how it works for them. I may sell this later. Not sure yet.
It's a small plastic piece that fits over the small lever and prevents it from moving.
Please send me a message if you are interested. Looking for two volunteers.
Thanks.

Yeah, but that doesn't work if your locked TV keys are in your AS when you get locked out of the trailer. Don't ask me how I know.
Now I travel with multiple sets of keys hidden outside of the trailer.

One reason I love vehicle keyless entry.

+1
I’ve got a set of keys for the Airstream hidden in a residential style lock box. I’ve also got keyless entry for the truck via phone app if necessary.

Hey RWTL, sounds like a useful device. I hope you receive comments from some people willing to try it out for you. Consider attending some rallies in your area, have a few samples on hand, and give them to people to perform real-world testing.
You mentioned that you've invented something. I presume that means you want to patent the idea. Be sure to have everything documented by date, possibly registered with an attorney, before you hand out your samples.
Best wishes!

I've had a death in the family and have had to put this project on hold. Sorry if I haven't responded to anyone who requested a device. I'm the executor of the estate and am swamped.

Take two plastic drywall anchors, cut the long point off. Screw them in. It's worked for years.

Invention to stop door lever from locking you out
Inland RV (when Andy owned it) used to supply a free, simple felt or plastic washer that went under the plate around the lever. It added just enough friction to prevent surprise locking issues.
I have had one on mine for as long as we’ve had the Airstream. Lock still functions easily.
